Advantages: Decent food; A good selection of cakes and pasty style foods
Disadvantages: Getting more expensive by the week; Food is tasting very greasy at the minute
I sometimes get something to eat from Greggs when I'm out but not as much as I used to because they keep putting their prices up and the food tastes proper greasy now.
They are a take away shop that sells things like pasties, baguettes, fresh bread, cakes and sausage rolls. Most of their hot food is in pastry so it's going to be a bit greasy but the last ham and cheese slice I had was so bad that by the time I'd finished the bag was soaked in grease so bad that it marked the seat in the car.
There sausage rolls are wicked and you see loads of people walking round scoffing them straight out of the bag. I've had a few of the baguettes but not very often because there's a Subway across the road and if I want a sandwich I'd rather go over there and have a proper nice fresh one.
The choice of baguettes and sandwiches isn't bad but there's never anything madly exciting to choose from and it's more or less all chicken or tuna mayo or cheese whcih I could make at home for much less money!
I love Greggs round Xmas time because they do a wicked range of mince pies, Xmas tree shaped biscuits and cake, turkey and cranberry baguettes and loads of different things. Halloween is a bit the same because then they will decorate their cakes with cheapo witch rings and stuff like that.
The hot food in here like I said is all pies and pasties. The steak slices are wicked because they are nice and peppery but I think the gravy is a bit rich with all the pastry so I don't have them very often. My fave is the ham and cheese slice but I like thier baguette pizza as well because the tomato sauce is lovely and rich so that its more like posh cheese on toast than pizza.
My mum likes their mini quiche and I tried one of them when we was on holiday in the summer because it was too hot for a pie. I loved the crispy crust because it was much lighter than usually on quiche but I thought the filling was too eggy and very wet inside.
The prices are a bit on top in Greggs now and most things are about £1.00 but only last year stuff was loads cheaper at about 79p an item. It's alright if your just popping in for something quick for yourself but the other week my dad went in and got us all something and a few cakes and it come to over £12.00 and that's a bit much because it's only snack food at the end of the day.
I'll keep going in if I'm hungry when I'm passing one but it's not a food place that I'd look out for or make a special journey to.
Summary: I Will Eat From Here If I'm Hungry When I'm Out But Wouldn't Go Looking For One
