Advantages: Cheap bakers compared to say Wrights etc
Disadvantages: Not a massive range
You know, I really do like Greggs.
Basically good food at very good prices.
I was really pleased when Gregg's came to Stoke on Trent and I have bought from the Longton and Hanley stores.
Shops=
Light and bright will food displays, chiller of drinks and sandwiches, grab your own bread. Basic but fine.
Staff=
Lovely, always very friendly and quick to serve you even though appear short staffed quite often. Customer service good, when I returned a pasty due to a crunch in it they gave me another choice and a cream cake. And hence I keep going back because they treat their customers right!
Product range=
Good sandwich range from basic egg mayo to the lovely tuna crunch and baguettes too which are fab, really nice food. Selection of drinks and crisps ok. Fresh bread and buns always available. Soup is available from my local, also hot drinks such as tea coffee and hot chocolate. Hot food range pretty good, the usual sausage rolls and pasties, always been good. Pizzas are nice!! Some fresh cream cakes and staples such as custards are available and have always been great quality I have found.
Prices=
I like my food to be a good price and this is no exception, extremely reasonable, sandwiches start at a pound and are lovely for the money, so very happy with this.
History=
http://www.greggs.co.uk/about_us/history/
Greggs was founded as a family bakery business on Tyneside in the 1930's by John Gregg. When John died suddenly in 1964, Ian Gregg gave up his plans for a legal career to take over the business, which at that stage consisted of a single shop with a small bakery at the rear. Under his leadership, the retail chain expanded in the North East and established the principle of serving a cluster of stores from a single central bakery, achieving efficiencies which could be passed on to the consumer in value-for-money pricing. And who can argue, it is the best value bakers on the high street.
Over the years Greggs has evolved from a traditional high street baker into the leading UK specialist retailer of sandwiches, savouries and other bakery products for the takeaway food market and I must agree, it just keeps getting better!
Very recommended great for grabbing lunch from.
Summary: Really good, food is nice, service great.
