a tasty restauarnt, well worth a visit

This restaurant is in a great location easily walkable from the Royal Mile and also Princes Street.

The restaurant itself is very clean and laid out well. For the middle part of the restaurant it seems they have a policy not to fill the tables too close together, however, around the edges it feels more compact and the tales are much closer together, which means you can often overhear people's conversations from other tables.

The food in Hadrian's was absolutely delcious. The portions seem a little small when they come out, especially given the price, but does fill you up, so don't let the portion size put you off. They do special offers with set menus, but the a-la carte generally has the more tempting items

The staff are friendly, but I think they are more used to clientele being very wealthy and in their late 30s rather than a pair of normal 20-somethings. But they were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere isnt the best that I have ever been to and at first we felt a bit uncomfortable, but after a glass of wine we relaxed.

The table next to ours had a child sat at it, and the restaurant had a speical menu for her (and other children), so taking children here would not be a problem at all.

I would recommend NOT using their website as a guide to the menu, as we did that and the menu had completely changed and the website was not updated. This restaurant is bookable via Toptable, so you can also get some special offers and menu deals that way.

The wine menu is rather pricey, but there were some delicious bottles on there, many available by the glass.

If you go here - certainly go the bar in the same building (the Balmoral) because the cocktails are delightful
