Advantages: Luscious food, Friendly service, Superb views
Disadvantages: A little expensive than other places, Can be busy in peak season., Closes in winter!!!
This is undoubtedly my favourite restaurant in St.Ives. It has a wonderfully cosy, warm atmosphere, fantastic food and accomodation. Situated on the harbour front in St.Ives, it is a three storey, narrow building that has granite steps up to the main restaurant area. Outside are a multitude of chalkboards with the regular dishes and specials. Inside is very small and cosy, with an old-fashioned theme of dark wood and dim lighting. The window seat is often taken, but well worth waiting for those who wish to view the harbour, the Godrevy lighthouse flashes and the moonlight on the sea! So romantic!! The food is out of this world!! Most of the menu is based on fish and seafood - freshly caught. I have had several meals here and every time I have not been disappointed with the food. They have a great variety of different fish and seafood, and many different recipes - eg, monkfish kebabs, chilli prawns, black bean tuna. The menu has been different each time I have visited. Prices vary - on average expect to pay over 10 pounds for a main course. The wine and beer selection is satisfactory. Wine can be served in there own designed karafes! Hobblers also has 2 rooms available for accomodation. I have not stayed myself, but have seen both rooms and they are very clean and comfortable. One has a sea view. From the brochure the rooms are very reasonably priced, and they offer discount on the food. I have visited other restaurants in St.Ives, but myself and my partner always make sure we visit Hobblers when we are in Cornwall. If you are looking for a top class seafood restaurant but cannot afford Mr Rick Stein's in Padstow you will not be disappointed by this altrnative!! Book in advance as it can get very busy.
