'Take a large bowl, fill it with equal measures of fact, fantasy, history, mythology, science, superstition, logic and lunacy. Darken the mixture with bitter tears, brighten it with howls of laughter, toss in three thousand years of civilisation, bellow `kan pei', which means `dry cup' and drink to the dregs'. The 'Hong Kong' is my local Chinese Restaurant in St. Neots. I love going there for a meal with friends, family or just for an evening out with Shane. I have known people to visit for as far as London and Norfolk for a meal. I think that says something about the food sold here. The gorgeous cuisine caters for the fussiest of clientele; I am hard to please being almost a Vegan Vegetarian! The 'Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant' was established in the St. Neots Market Square in 1969 and is one of the finest Chinese restaurants in Cambridgeshire. It is a family run business whose management has remained unchanged for over thirty years. It has a reputation for unequalled quality and service, proving popular with patrons across the county. There is a wide and varied menu catering for all tastes. The restaurant specialises in Cantonese, Peking and Szechuan dishes. **Restaurant** The restaurant can be found on the Market Square, in a listed building, and occupies the ground floor of the premises. About sixty patrons/clients are easily seated, if you book be sure to ask if the fish tank seat is available! (It is cool!) The restaurant is fully licensed and can supply fine wines stocked by Meybro Quality Wines. The chefs are always willing to cater for special requirements if you can telephone in advance and there are often special dishes available. Examples of specialities include lobster or fresh king scallops in black bean sauce, fresh squid, cuttlefish or fresh steamed sea bass. Just telephone beforehand and ask for 'Esa' (the chef) to find out what is available! '
;The Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant' is famed for the extensive vegetarian dishes, including tofu, crispy vegetables with pancakes and crispy 'chiu yim' mushrooms. 'The Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant' will try to cater for most dietary requirements. Dishes can be altered. I have asked in on many occasions for meat or eggs to be excluded without any problem. The chef freshly cooks all the food as you order it. It is NOT pre-prepared. If you do not like peas, would like an improvised vegetarian dish or simply prefer your Singapore Vermicelli to be extra hot, then tell the waiter at the time of ordering. 'Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant' is always happy to cater to a customer's wishes. For those special occasions, the restaurant can also provide speciality Chinese Banquets. These Banquets are lavish affairs comprising of many traditional courses and prove extremely popular, as well as being great value for money. (I have not had a banquet here myself, but have witnessed them and the food looks and smells fantastic). If you require a buffet then please ask for the 'Pagoda Club' on the next floor. ** The Pagoda Club** The 'Pagoda Club' is located above the restaurant and is home to the Pagoda Buffets. These are a veritable feast and can be arranged from as little as £10.00 a head. The food is plentiful and delicious, with the chefs often providing new dishes to surprise and delight! The 'Pagoda Club' has a fully licensed bar and dance floor, with discos held every weekend. It is the perfect venue for parties or meetings of up to seventy people. The club is also proud of its full size snooker room located on the third floor of the restaurant. *Example Menu* Appetisers: Platters of King Prawns on Toast Monk's Cup Crispy Satellite Prawns Chiu Yim Squid Starters: Crabmeat with Straw Mushrooms in a creamy sauce Crystallised
