Mention Jimmy's to anyone who hung out in Soho in the 1960s and 70s and a tear of affection will come to their eye. This basic basement Cypriot diner has been a budget dining fixture for longer than anyone can remember. While trendy eateries come and go with astonishing rapidity, Jimmy's just soldiers on. Nostalgia aside, it's hard to see how. When London was short on decent restaurants (which it certainly was before the late 1980s), this sort of sloppily put together, bog standard kleftiko, kebab and stuffed vine leaf fare might have been acceptable.
