Newest Review: ... as they tend to be very expensive and stingey with their portions. The John O Gaunts portions are not exactly generous but they are reasonable. You can also buy a pint from the bar and drink it with your meal so drinks are very good value if you do this. I suppose they will sell you a bottle of wine with the meal but can't comment on the cost of that as I make sure I have a pint of some beverage to take over to my meal, being a typical Yorkshire man! Overall I highly recommend this establishment, better food than say a "Wacky Warehouse" but only fractionally more expensive. ... more |

I discovered this modest little establishment after a friend recommended it. Situated on the edge of Rothwell, on the main road to Leeds it is very handy if you are driving along the M62, being about 2 miles from Junction 28. It is a large whitwashed building which you would dismiss as simply a pub if you were driving past. Well it is a pub which happens to serve some really excellent food and very decent prices. If you are used to pub food this will be a very pleasant surprise, the prices are slightly more than the usual fare but it is worth it.
