Advantages: Good Food And Good Service
Disadvantages: Chilly In The Winter
Jospehine's Restaurant is a new eating establishment that has recently opened up. It is situated on Holburn Street, Union Street end, Aberdeen. It is located fairly central and is easy accessable for anyone who wants to eat in a restaurant located within Aberdeen City. It is open both for lunch as well as for dinner. The last sitting you can book for in the evening is at 9 o'clock. It is a fairly small establishment so it does create quite a cosy atmosphere. Perfect for taking your partner out for a nice meal. It has a modern decor, lots of mirrors and steel. The main eye-catcher of the place is the huge round window at the front of the restaurant with the restaurant's name displayed on it. Very classy looking. The only problem with the layout of the place is the fact that the door opens straight onto the diners. In the winter this can be quite off-putting as every time someone enters or leaves you get a chill from outside. It is not advisable to get a table near the door when the weather is chilly! The menu is fairly varied. There is a distinct Italian theme to the food that they serve. Plenty of pasta and pizza to choose from. Saying that there are some good meat dishes on offer as well. While I was there I had a three course meal, starting with the garlic mushrooms. Very tasty indeed. Perhaps a bit on the oily side but still very delicious. My partner had the prawn marie rose which he said was equally as tasty. Both dishes were beautifully arranged on the plates. For the main course I had the veal while my partner had the spaghetti bolognse. My main course was again presented beautifully and tasted equally as good. The veal was cooked to perfection and the portion served was just right to satisfy your appetite. Unfortunately my partners main course was not up to the standard of my own. He found his bolognse sauce to be dry. This of course put a damper on the meal but credit is due to the staff of the restau
rant. When we mentioned that the meal recieved was not up to the quality expected we were offered two complementary drinks to compensate. The dessert again showed the expertise of the chef. Presented beautifully and both tasted lovely. I had to pear poached in red wine while my partner had an Italian cream type desert served with blackcurrent sauce. With the meal we had a bottle of wine which was reasonable priced. The dishes were priced in the same price bracket as most restaurants. Main meals ranging from anywhere between just under £10 to £15. I personally found the food served at Josephine's to be of high standard. The service was friendly and pleasant. The atmosphere in the premises were perfect to enjoy a meal. Soft music and nice lighting. It is somewhere were you can go to enjoy a special evening out.
