Advantages: Superb Food, Great Service, Value for Money
Disadvantages: Parking
From the minute you walk into Juniper you get a real understanding of the class of this restaurant. The decor is luxurious yet low-key and your welcome will be warm but discreet. The food is sublime. A regularly updated menu is makes fantastic use of game (teal and roe deer for example) and updates traditional english favourites as well as interpreting the best of french cuisine. Beautifully presented, each dish is a culinary work of art and quite often surprisingly different to how you expected it to look. The service is exceptional. Friendly and unintrusive and more than happy to explain the menu or the wine list with none of the disdain you often find in high-class establishments. My own personal recommendation - the assiette of desserts. Designed to share, you get a variety of desserts in miniature and the mix of flavours is unbelievable. You might think that such quality would come at an elevated price but Juniper is excellent value for money, particularly at lunch time.

- 14/10/02 Yes Juniper is a fantastic restaurant and hopefully will go all the way next year, and achieve a second michelin. Living locally to the fantastic restaurant i have had the pleasure of visiting a few times. The food ISN'T italian, the food ISN'T french, it is PAUL KITCHEN. Paul the headchef proprietor prides himself on his ingenuity with food, and to describe on of his creations as "Italian" would be un-just. I first visited some years ago and the food was excellent, but the interest in Juniper isn't based on the food that was made then. I was more simple than now, the simple "three items on the plate" was in action, and all three where excellent. These days Paul Kitchen has different aspirations the food is wonderous not only on the palate but also on the eye, his new team of chefs including young star Marco Caires have achieved something unparalled in their new menu. |
