This year I have made an effort to lay off fast food. I admit a few times my hunger has got the better for me and I have opted for KFC. Today was one of those days.

KFC is one of the leading fast food chains in the world. They are pretty much everywhere! They sell mainly chicken based products and are well known for their family buckets.

If you are just nipping in on your own there are some good individual options. They have recently introduced "Box meals". These are specialist meals that usually include a burger,side,chips and a piece of chicken. You also get a drink. These boxes will cost you under £5 and you get a lot of food for that. If your going as a family you could all get your individual meals or opt for a bucket. The buckets are set meals that will include quite a few pieces of chicken, a few portions of chips, pocorn chicken and a big 2l drink. There are many different types of buckets. There are variety buckets that offer something for everyone. You can get boneless buckets that have strips of chicken rather than wings or legs. These are good value and start at around £10 and can go up to £15.

The prices are pretty good all things considered. Its cheaper than a chinese or as cheap as a chippy the only problem is the taste. You do pay for what you get. The chicken is low quality and has been in the media that the animals are poorly treated. The chips are awful! They act as a buffer to the chicken but are bland and rubbish! The coating on the chicken is the only good thing! Its not the best in the world and I often question whether the salt content makes it addictive rather than it actually being good.

You dont need me to tell you how unhealthy this food is. Like all things its not too bad in moderation. The salt is worrying and I would guess the saturated fat content is through the roof. That said it does seem more substantial than the food from Mcdonalds!

Summary: Ideal if all else is lost!
