Advantages: Tastes Great!!!

Disadvantages: Not healthy and can be expensive

In the current climate where healthy living is promoted I admit I do try and give my family a healthier lifestyle at home but hey we all have our weaknesses and I confess that KFC is mine!!

KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) was founded in 1952 by Colonel Harland Sanders and is an American chain of fast food restaurants based in Kentucky (hence the name!). Soon growing in popularity KFC is now as popular over in the UK and Ireland as it is in the States. Branches are now found in pretty much every country all over the world too.

The 'famous secret recipe' is made of 11 different herbs and spices which coats the chicken giving it its 'finger licking good' slogan. The recipe still remains a secret and is locked in a safe in the companys head-quarters (god how id love to get my hands on that recipe!!!).

KFC provides southern fried chicken in all forms and the menu has grown over recent years. The complete menu can be found at www.kfc.co.uk and employment info can also be found on their website too.

Menu:
Original Chicken
Chicken Mini Fillets (boneless)
Crispy Strips Chicken
Popcorn Chicken
Toasted Twister Wrap
Toasted Twister Salsa Wrap
Zinger Burger, Fillet Burger, Fillet Tower Burger, Mini Fillet Burger, Kids Burger
Hot Wings
3 x Types of Salad
Sides: Chips, BBQ Beans, Corn on the Cob, Salad, Coleslaw
Drinks: Hot Drinks, Pop, Water, Orange Juice, Fruit Shoots
Desserts: Yogurts, Avalanche Ice-cream, Tub of Rolo Ice-Cream

All the above are available to purchase as single items or as 'set meals'. It certainly isnt the cheapest fast food chain in comparision to that of Mcdonalds and Burger King but I believe the quality of food at KFC is much more superior to other leading fast food chains.

Kids meals are also available and you can make your options as healthy as possible with salads, yogurts etc available and large 'bucket' meals available for family feasts at a reasonable rate.

Bucket meals tend to range in price from £9.99 to around £16.00 with a bucket generally containing around 8-10 pieces of chicken, fries, side orders etc. A boneless bucket is available for those who do not like chicken on the bone. I find these much better value than ordering single meals which can work out quite expensive - generally around £3.00 - £4.50 per meal depending on what you order though for a 'quick fix' snack boxes are now available for £1.99 where you select the style of chicken you like and you get a decent size box of chicken and chips for this price (but no drink).

Most KFCs have a drive through which I tend to use then take the food home, however when we have eaten in I have found the restaurant itself to be pretty clean and tables are cleared quickly though have found sometimes that service behind the counter can be a bit 'hit and miss', though will obviously be different depending on which branch you visit.

I have never had a bad experience using KFC and whilst I try to use it sparingly for health and financial reasons the whole family love this as a treat and we all have to give in to our indulgences once in a while dont we!!!!

Summary: Great for a treat!!
