My review of Kentucky Fried Chicken

Introduction

Ever since the Colonel started selling fried chicken (quite literally from his own home when he first started -lol) a good proportion of folks have loved it. Those family roots are long since gone, and the company is now an international concern with a brand so famous you can shorten it to just initials -so like the BBC FBI and KGB we now have the KFC -lol! But have they really managed to hang on to the 'down south' family hospitality that that Colonel Saunders first envisaged? Here's what I think...


My Opinion/ Features

Since the first time I visited a KFC in the 70's as a child, I was a big fan. As an adult I still find myself popping in to buy the family a treat every once in a while, KFC seems to be one of the areas we can all agree on...

The menu has grown over the years, but I'm still a fan of the old fries and chicken with pop to drink line up. The best value (in my opinion) is the £9.99 bargain bucket of 10 chicken pieces (also comes with fries which are included in the price) as there's always a piece left over for the dog too!!

I can't fault the taste of the chicken most of the time - though there have been a couple of occasions when I've bought chicken and it's been a bit drier than usual (which usually puts me of visiting the KFC for a few months until family pressure prevails :-) But on the whole the taste of the food is terrific.

I do have reservations about exactly how healthy KFC is though - I don't eat it too often, because, like most fast food, it just can't be that good for you. I also tend to order food and take it home rather than stay in the restaurant, especially during the evenings -this is because the KFC by me is sometimes magnet for anti-social types/gangs -so I don't want my family exposed to potential danger....

The service isn't too bad, and better than most fast food restaurants I've visited -though I wouldn't call it great.


My Verdict

I don't think the family hospitality that Colonel Saunders envisaged is completely dead at the KFC, though it is only hanging on by its teeth nowadays... The design of the interior is always a little cold and not particularly family friendly, and the KFC does seem to attract some unsavoury types (pun intended -lol!). The food is great though as long as you remember it's only a fast food treat and not to be taken seriously as a 'proper' meal'
