Advantages: Quick easy food to eat on the go

Disadvantages: So bad for you you may die from just reading the ingrediants

Now the only time I ever eat from one of these American 'restaurants' is when I'm on a very long and tedious car journey somewhere, usually to watch a football match. KFC for me is a way of breaking up the monotony of driving for god knows how many hours. So on that front the Colonel has been good to me.

The menu I find these days is more varied than before. No longer do you go into a KFC and just have the option of chicken with a side order of chicken oh what's that.... a live chicken for desert (For legal sake I will point out that at no point do KFC present you with a live chicken). Instead you have the choice of burgers (albeit chicken, but you are in a KFC) chips, coleslaw and baked beans to name but a few items on the menu. The general feel is that this chain has moved much closer to that of a McDonalds or Burger King in terms of products. This in my opinion is not a bad thing as I much prefer a chicken burger to the rubber beef that you get from the aforementioned chains.

Price wise for an average meal deal (an example is the Wicked Zinger Tower meal consisting of a Zinger Tower burger which has chicken salad, hash brown and spicy sauce, chips, two hot chicken wings a side of either coleslaw or beans and a drink) you're looking at between £5 and £6 (the meal deal I mentioned costs £5.39) which I think isn't too bad for the amount of food you get. You could easily spend £3 alone on a pack of two basic sandwiches from another shop without all the added extras.

If however you are one of these people who count calories then you probably don't need me to tell you that KFC is not the place to lose those added pounds that you want to shed. See below for a select choice of products produced by KFC, although I advise you to scroll through this without looking if you have just eaten one and don't want to know what you have put into your body.

If you can get past these horrors and are just after a quick snack to tide you over then KFC provides a decent enough fast food option. The one down side for me is the staff. I have yet to go to a KFC where a member of staff looks remotely happy (although on the whole I can't blame them as why would you be happy working at a KFC). But again this provides only a minor issue for me as you're not asking them to join you for a meal and make conversation.

So overall I advise that KFC is a good way of fulfilling your hunger on the road, but to avoid if you have other options around that are going to be better for you in terms of health.

Summary: Quick food, quick death
