MMMM I Love the Chicken! (Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC))

This may seem a bit mad but I have only just discovered how wonderful KFC is and it has been around since I was little. I will tell you my story of why I had big issues with KFC and now I have found myself dangerously craving one whenever I go past them. Here is why.

My Story
When I was little my family was always a MacDonald's family and my Dad would take us there whenever my Mom went out and we found it to be delicious. Then one day I went round to a friends house and they ordered KFC for tea. I think I had just a normal chicken burger whatever that was called at the time and I found a bit of gristle. Well I spat out my meal and that was it, my hatred for KFC was born.

5 weeks ago and we were on our way back home with friends from Longleat and it was a long drive so we stopped off to get some food. At the service station the only thing really was KFC and everybody fancied it so I thought hey it's been 18 years I'll give it another go. I had popcorn chicken and it was delicious.

A few weeks ago I was driving at work and so hungry and still had an hour to go till I got home. I saw the KFC sign at a services and stopped off and treated myself to a BBQ cheddar roller and it was yummy. My love for KFC began and now I cannot get enough. I will now tell you more about the actual place - the wonderful KFC.

What is KFC?
KFC stands for Kentucky fried chicken so as you can imagine this is a place that sells chicken menu items. It is a restaurant and is fast food so you can guarantee you will get served relatively quickly and you will get hot delicious food.

The KFC has the colonel as its symbol and everything is red and white with the logo and name. The actual restaurants are very simply done and practically the same as you would expect in MacDonald's or Burger King. Usually they are wood seats and there is plenty of seating for everybody. KFC's usually have a parking area and some have drive thru's so you don't even need to get out of your car.

The tagline for KFC is finger licking good which is so true!

The Food
Ok so this is where the real treat of KFC is. You have a good choice of chicken items which is nice so you are bound to find something you like there. The main meal there is the Zinger burger which I believe has been around for some time. It has a delicious chicken breast fillet in a bun with lettuceand yummy mayonnaise. They also have the chicken flavoured a bit spicy. The meal costs around £4.70 which is not bad and you get chips and a drink with that. Enough to fill me up this one is so I like it.

Then you have a normal filet burger which I have tried which is like the Zinger but with no spicy flavouring just the mayo. The next main meal thing I have tried at KFC is the toasted twister with salsa which is a favourite of mine as the flavours are really yummy! It contains really crispy bits of chicken and then some salad and mayo. There is also some quite hot salsa in there which I love as it gives it a kick. You can get the normal version of this though without the salsa if you are not a fan of spicyness.

Those are the only main meals I have tried but you can get popcorn chicken meal which is literally little battered bits of chicken which I have tried in snack form and they are well nice. You can also now get boneless boxes which look nice and start at about £4.50. Then KFC does its famous bucket meals which can go up to about £18 but they do feed the whole family which is good.

The other thing I like about KFC food is that they now have a lot of snack type things. They have small boneless boxes which are £1.99 which I might try this week. My favourite though is the streetwise menu which is small snack treats that start from 99p. My favourite is the BBQ cheddar roller which has popcorn chicken covered in a BBQ sauce. Then some cheese and it is wrapped in a flour tortilla and toasted. It is delicious! You can also get mini popcorn chicken and a mini variety box so this menu is great if you are in a snack mood.

Other
The drinks in KFC are standard so you can get soft and hot drinks and they are about £1 each. KFC also does kids meals which I have never had so I couldn't tell you much about apart from they are a couple of pounds and will fill them up.

The desserts at KFC are the only bad thing as they just have icecream which is a little boring but still nice if you fancy it.

Conclusion
Considering I hated KFC for all of those years, it has won me over with a vengeance. I love it there now and find it great for just popping into and eating on the move. As I do a driving job now I rely on getting quick food sometimes and KFC is perfect for this. Every bit of food I have had from there is delicious and the chicken is top notch. I am fussy with meat but I have no hesitation in going and eating the meat at KFC. Yummy!!
