Advantages: Good, hot, tasty food, Clean Restaurants, Friendly and helpful staff
Disadvantages: Only serves chicken, More expensive than other chains
I should probably mention that the title's a TM of KFC... now for the op! Mmmmmm chicken... Well, if you like chicken, then you can't really go wrong with KFC. It really is the best Fast Food chain going, and what makes it so good is that it serves REAL food (as opposed to the reconstituted camel droppings of some of its competitors) and you get that food fast. KFC is an abbreviation of Kentucky Fried Chicken, which for some reason was considered to be a less marketable name than "KFC" by the powers that be within the boardroom. It is run on a franchise basis and is found in most fair-sized towns and cities (here we have three) and also on a lot of motorway service stations now. KFC meals really are prepared to a very high standard in my experience. The food is always hot, tasty, and very filling. The prices aren't too bad either - you're typically going to pay more than you would for a meal in say McDonald's or BK, but then the food that you'll get is much more satisfying than what's on offer in either of those two restaurants. Meals start at around £3.30 and go up depending on the contents, with something like the chicken variety meal - consisting of two pieces of regular recipe chicken, a choice between crispy strips or hot wings, fries, and a soft drink costing just over £4. The best value though at KFC is found in the family meals. You can get something called the "Family Feast" for £9.99 which consists of lots of chicken, portions of fries, a desert (currently an apple pie I think, but it's sometimes a Vienetta or something similar) and a large 2 litre bottle of soft drink. You also get some little tubs of side orders (see below) In addition to the basic chicken, KFC serves up all sorts of variations on the chicken theme, from drumsticks and spicy hot wings to "Popcorn Chicken" (which is exactly what the name suggests really), various c
hicken burgers such as the "Zinger", which all contain real chicken and many other poultry-related delights. There's also the obligatory french fries, soft drinks, etc - plus deserts and little tubs of things that you might find at any good chicken BBQ, which are served as side orders, e.g. barbecue beans, coleslaw, etc. The restaurants are always impeccably clean in my experience, the facilities are good, and you just can't beat those little clean up tissues! The only problem(?) with KFC is that it only serves chicken. If you, like me, love chicken, then this obviously causes no difficulty. If you don't like chicken though then you're likely to find the menu a bit disappointing... unless you fancy sitting with a portion of fries and a tub of coleslaw. The Colonel's secret recipe of herbs and spices (used in the coating of the chicken) is a winner in my eyes though, and there's no better tasting fast food out there. If you like chicken, then give it a try!
