Advantages: SO SO SO YUMMY!!
Disadvantages: expensive if you buy singular
Krispy Kreme has been going since 1937...That's over 60 years of yummyness!! They have only recently opened their doors in the Uk although have been a huge success in America and internationally.
I first heard of Krispy Kreme when they opened a store in Bluewater Dartford. My husband was shocked to realise that I had never eaten a Krispy Kreme and shoved about 10 down my throat to make sure I had the taste. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.
I can't say I am a doughnut person....I mean I am a bit of a doughnut but that's not what I mean. I've just never really had the taste for doughnuts.
They are so 'melt in your mouth' and just leave you wanting more, although a bit sickly after 1 or 2 depending on what doughnut you choose.
The first doughnut brought out my Krispy Kreme was the original glazed and this is still the favorite for many people. Unfortunately this remains a secret recipe so I couldn't tellyou what is in it but I can assure you it is yummy.
Other variations of doughnut include chocolate iced, cream filled (although when I visited the bluewater store today they said they had stopped doing this one), maple iced glazed, sugar ring, chocolate iced ring, cinnamon bun, custard filled, sprinkled ring and lots lots more!!
The reason I chose to write this review today although there are many comments I wish to make about Krispy Kreme is because when I visited their store today I found their customer service exceptional. Although on first inspection I thought the staff looked a little grumpy I think this is because they were extremely busy and were selling doughnuts by the tray load almost. I still found them to be polite though and very efficent.
Because we wnjoyed the doughnuts so much after buying three I went back to buy 4 more to take home for my husband, the man behind the counter had remembered howmany we had brought before and said if we gave him the receipt we could basically have five more for less than the price we were gonna pay for another four meaning we got nine more. This is because they offer special discount when you buy 12 meaning that rather than paying £1 something for each doughnut we got 12 for £8.95 - just added the extra money to the money we had paid for the 3. The reason I was so impressed with this is because rather than chose to ignore the fact we had already brought some doughnuts, not only did he remember exactly what we had brought he went out of his way to give us a discount which is a rare thing to happen these days!!
I am also impressed with Krispy Kreme because they offer many promotions. For instance at christmas they sell christmas cards. £5.95 for a pack of five - pricy don't you think? Well yes but not if you include the 5 free vouchers you get (1 with each card) each for 12 free doughnuts!! Thats 60 doughnuts for £5.95 what a cracking christmas present!!
They also offer some great incentives to raise cash for charity. If you have a charity event they will give you doughnuts to sell at a special rate, meaning you make loads on your doughnuts therefore loads for your charity. This make me think that it is a great company and makes me want to buy from them!
Krispy Kremes are located all over England, You can find consessions in some Tesco but visit the Krispy Kreme website to find your nearest one.
As I said before Krispy Kremes can be expensive but if you buy in bulk like I did they actually work out quite reasonable!! And trust me they are definately worth it!!
Summary: Worth every pound in both sence of the word!!

- 19/06/09 Sounds like great service. The first time I bought these was in a box of 12...we didn't even try them first, just assumed they would live up to the hype. And they so did. |
