The La Brioche Doree chain has become a welcome addition to many town centres and also in service stations, at the Channel Tunnel terminal and in many airports such as Edinburgh. It was in the Edinburgh airport one that I recently had a very reasonably priced snack of high quality.

The snack bars serve a limited range of baguettes and pizzas and quiches. It is claimed the baguettes are baked fresh on the premises. Well actually they are of course part-baked and finished off at the counter but the overall effect is that the baguettes are fresh-tasting and very enjoyable. Prices run from around £2.70 for Ham or Tuna up to £2.99 for a chicken/bacon combination. The pizzas looked less appetizing having been prepared and kept warm. I prefer pizza to be prepared fresh but prices were similar. The quiche looked better but I'm not a great quiche fan so preferred my baguette.
La Brioche Doree also sell a range of pastries from croissants at 99p and other pastries up to £1.35. These are tasty and a nice snack with the range to teas and coffees LBD sell. Where there is a La Brioche Doree I would recommend it as an alternative to the usual burger fare.
