“ Mexican restaurant in Leeds. chain. „
I visited Las Iguanas in Leeds last week with my boyfriend. I had found a 'two for one' on main courses on the internet so we took it along with us.
My first impression of the restaurant was a good one, we were greeted at the door and on informing the hostess we hadn't made a reservation, she swiftly found us a table and had us seated immediately. The atmosphere was electric and exotic; it was clear that both staff and customers were having a fun evening, the smells coming from the kitchen were tempting and spicy and the music was creating a latino party atmosphere yet not distracting from our intimate meal. After being seated we ordered a bottle of very reasonably priced red wine and a starter of tortilla chips and guacamole which was brought to our table quickly. We took rather a long time deciding on what to have for our main course as the menu was extensive and had so many different types of latino cuisine to tempt us.
Between us we ordered a vegetarian chilli and a Brazilian dish made with smoked haddock, coconut and new potatoes. It was a nice surprise to see that the 'two for one' voucher covered any main course on the menu, and was not reserved to a limited menu which is often the case with vouchers elsewhere. The food came quickly and was hot and delicious and included the nice touch of being brought a round box of warm tortillas to enjoy with the chilli.
After our main course, we ordered a dessert of crushed meringue, cream, guava and raspberries which was delicious and surprisingly light (which was good as we were already rather full!) We were brought two spoons and shared this desert which came beautifully presented in a Martini glass.
I had such a special and fun evening at Las Iguanas, the food was fantastic and different to the norm and the staff and the atmosphere were faultless. In addition to this, I felt that the meal was good value for money, and I would return with or without a '2 for 1' voucher.
We visited Las Iguanas in Leeds a few weeks ago as it is about 2 minutes away from our flat, and we had a huge craving for Mexican food!
When we arrived we sat in the Bar area for a while as it was Happy Hour so we had some 2-4-1 cocktails before our meal. I had a few Long Island Iced Teas and they were really good, but if it wasn't Happy Hour they would have been nearly £5 each which is a bit expensive, but 2-4-1 makes it all good!
After a few drinks we moved into the restaurant area which was quite busy for a Thursday night. We were seated and handed menus to look at. The menu is really good and it was pretty hard to choose from. We will definitely be going back to try the rest of it!
For Starters we shared Nachos topped with Chorizo and for the main course I had a Spiced Chicken & Cheese Chimichanga and Holly had a Spiced Chicken, Sweet Peppers & Cheese Enchilada. The food was excellent! It all tasted very fresh and the service was great! The Main courses were about £9 each but as Holly is a Student, we applied for their 20% discount and this really makes it great value for money! Even without the student discount, the food was definitely worth the money! Very tasty!
The Restaurant had a great atmosphere and the decor gave a very Latino feel to the evening. The music was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
If you fancy Mexican food give Las Iguanas a go! It really is a great experience!
Las Iguanas is a great big dollop of Mexico right on your door-step!
I can't wait for our next visit!
