It's worth trying but don't expect fabulous food just satisfactory food!

The Lawnswood Arms is a friendly family pub type restaurant. If you are looking for a family place this is the place to visit. It's roomy and plenty of highchairs. If you are looking for great food then I'd say this is ok. The kids menu has a great selection stating the fat and salt content. I ordered my son Fish fingers, jacket potato and beans and was disappointed to find the fish was over cooked and the presentation was not great. Nevertheless my son wolfed it down and it did the trick. There is a great choice of starters with my favourite being the nachos with chicken. With an extensive variety of main courses the decision is always a hard one, do I choose fish and chips or a burger and you always want to make sure you have room for desssert. There is a great choice for vegetarians and it's reasonably priced. The portions are relatively big so you won't be disapppointed. You may wonder why I say the food is ok. Well, to be honest, it doesn't strike me as home made food, it's more of an oven / packet job. Veggie burgers out of a packet and into the oven, they don't taste homemade. Infact most of the food is like that but in most of these pubbie places you expect that to be the case. The other great thing about it is the Wacky Warehouse that is attached. It's a brilliant soft play place for the kids and always has loads of parties going on. It's worth trying but don't expect fabulous food just satisfactory food!

I was browsing through the Restaurants in Leeds section, and although I was quite suprised to only see eleven listed I was even more suprised to see The Lawnswood Arms in there. Hah HA. I work and live quite near the Lawnswood and go there quite often for lunch (regrettably).

Lets get one thing straight though its a Pub not a Restaurant, its quite large and has all the trimmings of a family pub, Pool Table, Big Screen TV, and an indoor and outdoor adventure playground.

Drinks aren't exactly cheap, and you will sometimes find yourself waiting around to get served. The worst thing of all is the food,
on friday there is a 'Eat all you want' Thai Buffet for about five pounds "All is good you are thinking" not quite. The Thai food especially the fish tastes like and looks like rubber, the rice is like eating a bucket of grit with a few lead peas in and the sauce taste like a Dolmio jarred sauce. After my first plate I didn't fancy another, and later I was quite ill.

Sometime ago my girlfriend and I ended up there after work, I ordered a cheese burger and my wife a Lasagne. We waited quite a while for our food, when eventually it came we were presented with your usual pre-prepared chain pub food. I immediatley tucked into my burger thinking "anyone can cook a cheese burger", I was wrong! I nearly broke my tooth, when i opened it I saw half a cheese slice on top of a black burger which was burnt to a crisp. I don't like to complain but it was completely inedible I took the burger back and the manager ask what was wrong with it!! I took the burger out of the bap, and snapped it like a rotten twig infront of her. She shrugged as if to say whats wrong. Eventually she took it back and I got my money back, I left the pub as quickly as possilble.

The Lawnswood is alright for a drink at lunch if you work or live near, the only food I’ve tried and liked is the chips, but its so obvious that all the meals are pre-prepared frozen oven meals.

For really good food in a relaxed atmosphere, you can't beat the Lawnswood arms. I am speaking from a family view as i have two young children, it has both an indoor and outdoor play area which is supervised by their own staff. But the meals are delicious if you like steak, their sirloin is the best, served with mushrooms, fries and a side salad and done to your taste for less than £10, what more do you want. Childrens meals are less than £5 and a good assortment is offered on the regularly changed menu. If you like three or four courses, no problem theres always a good selection of starters and desserts. Set on the outskirts of Leeds in the district of lawnswood heading out towards otley, it's a good size public house/restaurant well suited to all.
