Certainly not Lazy at Lazeez
Member Name: blondgem
Advantages: great food, nice environment
Until I converted to Bengal Lodge recently as my favourite Indian Restaurant, Lazeez for me used to beat any Indian Restaurant hands down. Winning many awards within Stoke on Trent and across the country for their culinary expertise, Lazeez is a favourite for anyone that has ever dined there.
Lazeez is situated in the heart of Stoke on Trent, in the centre of Hanley town centre and is an ideal venue if you are planning to go out for a night on the town and want to eat first. It is directly opposite one of Stoke's main theatre's and attracts many people that are attending a show either before or after the performance. Lazeez looks very small when you look at, however is very attractive from the outside, with chilled out lighting inside that attracts your eyes away from anything, apart from an dishy fella's that may be in the vicinity.
Ideally its best to book should you to eat at Lazeez, they take this quite seriously and don't normally accommodate walk in's however it is always full to brim anyway. For larger parties they do ask for a deposit aswell before they will confirm you booking. When you walk into Lazeez, the first thing that strikes me is the size of it, it looks tiny, however there is a staircase to the right of you as you half way inside which when you go up, opens into quite a big room to accommodate more diners. During the summer I quite like to sit downstairs by the windows as the fron is just glass and you can watch the passers by and its a lot brighter. During winter I prefer to sit at the back of the restaurant to keep myself cosy, however once you have tasted their food, you are certainly warm.
The staff within the restaurant are very friendly, a mixture of younger and older waiters are on hand and will tend to your every need. Upon arrival they will seat you, take your drinks order and hand out menu's for you to browse and make a decision on what to order.
The food itself here I always find very filling and I have not sampled any of the starters or the desserts as I find my main course is quite adequate and often fills me to the brim anyway. Especially if you are going into town after you don't want to be too full, as I think its a bit uncomfortable.
The portions of the food are just nice and the food is very tasty. I have tasted Lamb Tikka Dupiaza which here I feel is a lot hotter than what you can get from other restaurants. You can taste the combination of spices within their food which is nice. You never find a tiny little bit of oil in their food, unlike when you order take away and it seems to be swimming in grease. The Chicken Madras I found was a little too hot for me, sometimes I am able to eat it, however on this occasion I struggled and it ruined my meal a little, so make sure you go for something that you know you are going to manage. I always have chips unfortunately. I am not a rice person, never liked it. There chips are home made, very thick and slightly browned and are cooked to perfection and taste like those home made chips that we all know and love. The naan bread are not too big. I don't like to have naan bread which will fill two plates like some restaurant, they are just nice for one person, not too big and always piping hot.
At the end of your meal, they always give you a slice of orange. Forgive me if I am being a little blond, but I am not sure what this is for but always find myself eating it anyway.
The prices of the food is generally very reasonable and ranges rom £8 - £16 for your main courses depending what you have plus any side dishes that you indulge in.
Tasty Little Restaurant.
