Zero stars! I'd heard good things and other reviews are favorable but I disagree! My partner and I decided to stop here for food as we were in Lovechild for the day. We had not booked so went quite early, just before 6pm before bookings started arriving, as we knew we'd be quite quick. Bad choice, awful welcome. After the waitress made us feel terrible for not booking, she didn't say a word, didn't show us to our table just dumped a couple of menus on one. Someone else came to take our order and checked that we'd been told we need to be gone asap! Food was bland, nothing special.Starters were greasy and tasteless, I had seafood hotpot main, most of which was undercooked. (We paid £36 for two of us and I left hungry!! ) Then someone else started to clear the tablecloth while we were waiting for the bill! So rude, we told him what bad service we had received but he didn't really care. We paid, gave them back their 'loyalty card'.. as if we'd go back!, waste of money, we should have walked out as soon as we got there. We we're polite through the whole visit, trying to enjoy it but we've never felt so unwelcome as we did here! At least it saved us a tip.
Sticking to Thai Rainbow in Lichfield, far superior service and much tastier food.
Lee Garden have 2 restaurants - one in Lichfield and one in Sutton Coldfield.I have only been to the one in Lichfield, and it was amazing!
The chefs are employed form Hong Kong and Malaysia so they obviously know what they are doing - and you can tell that by the quality of the food.
I had the spring rolls to begin with and they were delicious! Crispy on the outside, filled with really tast veg in the middle with a hint of spice. I wasn't keen on the dipping sauce (I never am in Chinese restaurants) so I kept well away.
For the main, I had crispy chicken and egg friend rice. Again, it was totally delicious. I am very particular about what I have in Chinese restaurants becuase I find that they don't cook the chicken enough for my particular taste, which is why I opted for the crispy chicken. The sauce that came with it was equally delicious, so full of flavour. I am a massive fan of egg fried rice, so it takes something seriously worng for me not to like it! There was enough egg in there, and there was some peas and onion too.
I love with Chinese food the fact that you don't seem to get too full too quickly, and there was just the righ amount of food for me to enjoy it, but not overeat and spoil my experience.
I will definitely be going back. With plenty of parking nearby (free after 6.30p I think), and the train station only a 5 minute walk away, it is in an ideal location. It is on the outskirts of the town centre, so not far to walk to a nearby pub if you fancy making a night of it (probably a 10-15min walk to the local Apres)
