For the last few years, Christmas day has become a routine involving my husband and I visiting either his parents or mine. This year, however, started more promising (no offence, mum) with all the in-laws safely ensconced at a Yorkshire hotel for the duration and my parents staying over at my brother's house for Christmas day. This meant my husband and I were free to do what we wanted Christmas day, with the proviso that we would make our way over to my sibling's house for Boxing day.
