Little ChefNewest Review: ... to be decorated well clean and have a welcoming atmosphere. I knew that the Little Chef restaurant had changes owners but was very surprised to see how the restaurant had changed from a thriving heaven where a friendly face good quality food and a fabulous selection on the menu to an almost dirty run down café that was struggling to survive We walked in to be met by our server who looked tired which is understandable from a busy café but didn't seem to make an effort, of course she could be having a bad day but as far as I can tell it doesn't cost anything to smile. We sat down and looked at the menu which had also changed I ordered the ... more |

I remember as a child whenever there was a family trip we would factor in a stop in the Little chef along our journey We used to travel frequently from Bristol to North Wales and a stop in the Little Chef was a welcome break from the boredom of driving. The little Chef was usually found on motorways service stations or strategic roundabouts on main roads. They would offer the tired traveller a rest break with an excellent range of food that was of good value and excellent quality. I also remember the restaurant to be decorated well clean and have a welcoming atmosphere. I knew that the Little Chef restaurant had changes owners but was very surprised to see how ... Little Chef used to be a British institution and the place which you always looked forward to seeing at the side of the motorway on your long journeys as it offered you an excellent chance for a stop and refreshing drink as well as a good meal to fill you up but unfortunately recent times have seen it in a massive decline. I used a Little Chef within the last year or so when my wife and I went down to visit her family and we stayed in a Travelodge as the nearest place to get anything other than this was a taxi journey away and so we decided to just give it a chance and get some breakfast. When we went in there were about 7 people in the restaurant and one ... Read the complete review

It's very rare I eat in Little Chef as I find the prices to be extraordinarily high for such a basic restaurant chain, considering the meals aren't even anything special I do baulk somewhat at paying restaurant prices for café food. However, a couple of weeks ago my sister received some complimentary vouchers for Little Chef so after shopping we decided to pop in for a bite to eat on the way home. I wasn't impressed at all, not one little bit. While the restaurant was clean, the food I felt left a lot to be desired and the restaurant was woefully understaffed with the same girl having so many different jobs to do that I felt quite dizzy watching her flying ... Prior to last weekend I hadn't eaten in a Little Chef since I was a child but twice in the last week I've found myself staying in a Travel Lodge where the only eating place in walking distance was a Little Chef and so I was a captive audience first at the restaurant at Cambridge Fourwentways and then at the restaurant which is part of the Oxford Peartree Interchange service area. On walking into each of the restaurants I was pleasantly surprised. Both restaurants were light and airy with friendly and welcoming staff who seemed pleased to help. The seating areas were basic but comfortable with some bench seating and other just basic tables and chair seating ... Read the complete review

Having stayed at the Travelodge in Adlington Cheshire the Little Chef is next door. So my husband and I decided to have a full cooked breakfast before our departure. We walked across the car park and entered the Little Chef at which point a waitress ushered us to our seats. She handed us some menus and immediately took our drinks order. On returning with the drinks she then took our breakfast order - quite simple - 2 early starters, a portion of mushrooms and two slices of toast. By the time the food had arrived the tea had been drunk, so we asked for another 2 pots of tea. I don't know why they insist on using these small teapots as half the contents end up on the table ...
