Advantages: Convenient I guess when travellng
Disadvantages: Pricey and not great quality
Recently while driving down to Devon we found ourselves on a relatively minor road whci meant the chances of finding somewhere to stop to eat were rather sim so we stopped at the first place we came to which was a Little Chef. Little did we know that if we had carried on a bit further we would have passed a rather nice looking pub and probably had a much better meal than the greasy offerring we ended up with.
Little Chef are a chain of restaurants that are usally part of road services or stand alone on main roads, either way they are aimed at travellers and because of that the first thing I noticed was that the food was quite pricey, a full breakfast was over £7 and that was without a drink. We were both pretty starving but I was not really that impressed with what was on offer as most of it involved chips, in the end I opted for a gammon steak and my boyfriend had the steak pie. Both meals were edible but my gammon was very salty and the peas were rock hard and over cooked while the boyfriends pie crust was a bit soggy looking although he said the pie filling was really nice as were the chips.
On the plus side the service was very quick and efficient and the restaurant was really clean including the toilets. On the down side as well as the slightly poor quality of the food it was pricey, two meals and two drinks and a bottle of water came to just over £20 which is a bit steep in my opinion.
Summary: Service station food.

- 02/09/08 £7 isnt too bad for a breakfast, on the whole, although cheaper can be found if you can find a roadside greasy spoon |
