Advantages: Cheaper than most, available at roadside
Disadvantages: The food looks horrible and most is heated in microwaves
I can remember going many times when I was a kid and being excited because at that time, Little Chef, Wimpy and Happy Eater were the three top fast food joints in my area, thinking back they were nice places to eat because they were simple child friendly meals.
I went to one last year as I had to eat something and didn't fancy a sandwich, ugh, I had a meal and I have to admit I regretted it, the menu options were all over the place, from burger to pasta to curry to mexican, I had a burger and it was horrible, without dissing Iceland, it looked like a supermarket roll, with an Iceland pack of 8 burgers for £1. The drinks were fine as they were named brands such as coke. The chips were oven chips, they hadn't been made and were really average.
Overall I thought the meal was a throwback, it made me realise I couldn't eat there now as the level of food could only appeal to a child without an educated palate.
The reason i'm writing this now is I can see why they are so poor after watching the Heston Blumenthal documentary i'm appalled that any restaurant can pass safety tests and cook eggs in a microwave, it looked like all their meals are cooked from ready meals in microwaves, the staff appear ignorant and unmotivated.
Seeing how the meals are created and how the management are trying desperately to grab publicity i'm appalled and don't think i'll go back, the menu looks large but is awful quality, sometimes bigger isn't better.
Summary: Watching the Channel 4 documentary has put me off Little Chef for life
