The Tyne and Wear Rapid-Transport System was introduced in stages between 1980 and 1984 and brought a new era of light rail to the United Kingdom. The first phase was based around Newcastle and we have had to wait twenty-two years for the second phase, which will link Newcastle with my home estate and unfortunately Sunderland. This will open on ... Read the complete review

On the long trawl around England to various holiday destinations we have come across clumps of Little Chefs, often now co-habiting with Burger King it seems. It's a bit like shopping at Toys'R'Us, we always think THIS time, it'll be different. But it never is. We have three Childen (2,4 and 6) so the need for ... Read the complete review

On a weekend away, we stopped at two different Little Chef restaurants. The first, I think, was somewhere near Oxford on the A34, or perhaps just on the M40. It was utterly forgettable. We stopped primarily for 'comfort' reasons, but would have had a coffee and a snack had it been clean and welcoming. We had ... Read the complete review

To be fair to the Little Chef chain, * their locations are such that their rates must be awfully high * they are, in my experience, clean * the coffee is acceptable (at least if you order the cafetieres) Still, I avoid them when I can, for reasons which have already been well aired. When we are on home territory, we go ... Read the complete review

Hmm, Little Chef....I remember a few years a go, well probably more than a few, when a Little Chef used to be a nice place to go if you were feeling peckish on a long road journey. Whatever happened to them!?! They look as if they have the same decor they have had for the last however many years, and are furnished with cheap furnitue and ... Read the complete review

It’s been a good while since I last set foot in a Little Chef restaurant, over a year in fact, until a week ago that is. I’d always remembered them as expensive places to eat, not particularly comfortable and with rather a bland café style menu and a long wait for your meal to arrive at your table. But I have to admit to being very ... Read the complete review

Can't you just remember the 'good old days', when you could be speeding along the motorway one minute, then pull in to a nice, comfortable 'Little Chef'. Order up a plateful of tasty food and feel refreshed and ready to continue your journey. ...or am I looking through 'rose-coloured' specs'? ... Read the complete review

AA members receive 20% discount at Little Chefs until 30.06.01 (see points at end of OP). I tend to travel quite a bit in both my business and personal life, and much to my partners annoyance love visiting a Little Chef. I must confess that I have only ever eaten from their selection of 'All Day Breakfasts' and can honestly say ... Read the complete review

My family has a history of pulling off the road to a Little Chef and being sorely disappointed - i fact it makes me wonder why we didn't just drive on til we found something else?! This particular branch in question is the one located at Heathrow Airports Central Bus Terminal - as we live close, it seemed an ideal place to have ... Read the complete review

Anyone that has driven or been driven along a motorway has heard of Little Chef. My guess is that they probably were one of the original stables as far as road food services were concerned. I certainly remember as a little boy being treated at a Little Chef restaurant and having that ‘Lollipop’ as an after meal giveaway near the till! ... Read the complete review

The first thing that is to be said about this restaurant is that it is very expensive. On the drive down to Devon for my holiday, I stopped at one of these motorway restaurants for a much needed breakfast, only to find that it cost around £20 for three of us to have a very simple breakfast. The food is in fact very nice, but the prices are ... Read the complete review

Do not go to a Little Chef if you are ever in a hurry. There seems to be a pre-determined number of waiting periods that you have to pass through. When you walk through the entrance there is a sign stating "Please wait to be seated". So you obediently wait. The waitresses will keep looking at you from across the room, as if to ... I have always found Little Chef restaurants to be clean and pleasant. The service has been excellent and the food freshly cooked. I have been in these restaurants all over the country preferring them to motorway services. The food is simple. You can get burgers, chicken, fries, a full breakfast, salads, etc and snacks like doughnuts ... Read the complete review

I was staying at the Brentwood East Horndon (701) Travel Lodge on Wednesday the 7th June, and had an evening meal at the Little Chef that is attached to the Lodge. On entering the restaurant I asked if there was a copy of a newspaper that I could read. I was told No and was ?tutted? at for asking. I ordered my meal but all the time I ... Little Chef is good old fashioned roadside Cafe food without the greasy mugs and dirty plates. It is a very clean smooth operation that has spread throughout the country alongside most major A roads. You can ger fried breakfasts, chips, burgers, and even steak dinners. There are childrens meals and even puddings to choose from. The only ... Read the complete review

When travelling along the roads of Britain, when you find yourself hungry, what is the first company that comes to mind? After a week of travelling I found it to be the 'little chef'. These 'Little chef' restaurants are all the same and supply the same meals wherever you are. Famous for their 'all day breakfasts’. So, ... Read the complete review
