I first visited Matgheritas aout 6 orseven years ago and found it very nice but quite expensive, it doesn't seem so expensive now. It is an Italian restaurant in the centre of St Annes amongst the shops. Whenever we go out for a meal we go early - no later than 6pm as that way we can get home whilst the youngest is still ... We had a booking Aug 2010.We arrived to a rude woman on the front desk but gave her the benefit of the doubt as it was very busy and waited in the very small and overcrowded bar as instructed. The bar man was busy making sweets so we waited, and waited and waited and waited. When we asked him if we could order a drink he was extremeley rude in his response. We walked out and went to Mr Chow Cantonese a couple of doors down, where we had a beautiful meal served by happy frieindly staff.Margherita Restaurant DON'T BOTHER UNTIL THEY LEARN SOME MANNERS!!You have to give a minimum of 1 star - it doesnt deserve any

I phoned up to book this restaurant despite reading bad reviews it was close for everyone in our party. The woman asked straight away if we were an under 18s party i said no we were a retirement do. They would only reserve our table for 10 if we left a five pound per head deposit which was not possible. I said we couldn't do this and could we avoid that, we were a retirement do who would not mess them around. The woman was snotty and rude implying that she didn't need our buisness anyway. For this reason, i been put off by her rude manner and not even entered the place but booked elsewhere, if they're that bad mannered on the phone god knows what they're like on a busy evening in the place!

We first ate here on holiday in May 2007 and plan to go back this Summer. Very good food (I love the garlicy prawns), friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Really good value because we went at happy hour.
