Advantages: Taste, atmosphere, value
Disadvantages: None
Masala zone is a chain of indian restaurants in London currently at Soho, Earls Court, Islington, Covent Garden, Bayswater and coming soon Fulham. The first chain opened in Soho in 2001 and has grown rapidly since then.
The atmosphere inside is that of a casual relaxed atmposphere bringing contemporary indian food to londoners.
I find the feel to be much different to that of traditional indian restaurants, which are also enjoyable, but I think where Masala Zone has really hit the spot as that its quite a relaxed, busy and modern atmosphere with a great variety on the menu. To me its a great place to go with friends in the evening.
There is also the option to take out food from the restaurant, or if you live within the area to have it delivered.
The staff inside are always friendly and polite which is great.
The food itself comes in different options, mainly street food and thali's. There are also special dishes which change regularly.
I usually tend to go for the thali option, as this way you get to try a bit of everything. Thali is also known for its balance of nutrients and portions. There is also a diabetic thali created for those who are diabetic.
In the Thali option you get to choose your curry which means you can try something different each time. Or there is the option, if your really hungry, to have the grand thali, where you get to choose two curry options.
I find the quality of the food to be extremely high and the tastes are bustling with the different flavours. Generally you could eat a meal for around £10 if you want to keep it cheap, otherwise spend as much as you can eat.
There are often special offers on for lunchtimes and evenings too. Keep an eye out.
It is really a great value place to eat, bringing a new way to the way we eat indian food and I definately recommend it.
Summary: A contemporary indian way to dine
