Advantages: Tasty burgers

Disadvantages: their 'specials' ..aren't!

Mcdonald's is one of the world's biggest chain, I'm sure I don't need to outline who they are, everyone knows them.

Like millions of others worldwide it's been one of those brands I've grown up with. My nan used to take me to McDonald's in the school holidays and it was as much about the meeting other kids as it was about the food. I was always a fan of their milkshakes and can remember it taking me over an hour and a half to finish it, nowadays of course I've got it down to ten minutes!

Back then, there wasn't this big sigma about eating fast food, particulary McDonald's, as featured in the film Super size Me, which made the chain rethink it's image.

They have now introduced salads, and sandwiches that are lower in fat and calories to their burgers and chips in order to show they cater for the health concious market too. Unfortuneately, the salads are ok, but if I wanted to go out for a healthy lunch I wouldn't go to McDonalds. Burgers are what they do best and I think it's down to the customers common sense. Surely everyone knows eating burgers and chips every day is not good for you and as long as people eat in moderation I see no harm in indulging in a Maccy d's once in a while.

The food itself I think is yummy, no it's not top end fine dining, but that's not what you want all the time. Our town has been so over - run with expensive restaurants, I'm glad we still have a McDonalds still, for when you want a cheap yummy lunch but haven't got the time to sit for long.

My personal favourite from the menu is the Big Mac, their most famous and signature burger. I'm not a huge meat eater and their thin beef patties are just enough for me. I understand some one who likes their beef would much prefer a chunkier pub style beef burger but me Mcdonald's do them just about better than anywhere.

They have a good choice of burgers, kids meals and drinks and at a competitve price for a hot lunch. Around £4 for a meal or £2 for a plain burger. They have regular specialities such as christmas or mexican theme burgers that are on their menus for a limited time. These are never as good as anything on their main menu and I think they are running out of ideas, as often they are just slight variations of something else, and they also a lot more expensive than the regular meals. I went in the other day and had their latest, A chicken fiesta which was chicken burger, salsa, lettuce.. and nachos?! A crisp sandwich! Yuk!

To round up, a McDonalds once in a while is a yummy treat, and I hope they continue to do there burgers for a long time to come, as their new additions to the menu are not what they do best. Mcdonalds has a lot of nostalgia for me, and I continue going there for my hangover breakfasts!!

Summary: A yummy Maccy d's once in a while never did anyone any harm
