Advantages: A wider range of food these days
Disadvantages: fatty, not filling and yuk
Isn't it funny how we seem to follow America in everything they do? It won't be long before guns are legalised over here and a bullet wound will be the next 'In' thing. Until that time there is the famous Mcdonalds.
I'm not going to bore you by telling you that Mcdonalds is a fast food restaurant that is probably most famous for it's 'Big Mac' and is represented by the rather scary clown, Ronald Mcdonald! You can walk down just about any street in the UK and find a Mcdonalds.
When we were honey mooning in Prague, our very first stop was a Mcdonalds because we were desperately hungry and didn't know the area so opted for a Mcdonalds meal. The great thing about Prague was the fact that they gave out a bottle of water with every single meal. When the woman asked me in broken English what drink I would like, I didn't understand that I'd get a water free so asked for water which seem to frustrate her a bit.
Mcdonalds has come so far since the days of the Big Mac and you can now get chicken, salads and healthier options due to them being slated for being so unhealthy.
I've never actually liked Mcdonalds and would rather get a sandwich. My hubby went through a phase of eating it almost everyday as he loves the stuff. I would usually go with him and sit eating air as he laid into a Big (or not so big ) mac meal. Obviously I have eaten there or I wouldn't be reviewing it but I found the food too greasy and it just didn't fill me up. I have a big appetite and generally try to eat stuff that leaves me satisfied for a long time and this definately doesn't.
I like the fact that they are offering a wider variety of foods these days. For example if you have a child then you can order a kids meal but opt for a fruit bag instead of a cookie as part of that.
I definately think it's over priced for the amount get and I don't understand how they can call a 'Big Mac' 'big'. It's not big at all. The burgers are as thin as a piece of paper. If you order it to takeaway then by the time you've opened box the roll is soggy and full of condensation water.
I know this is totally contradicting what I have said so far but I do like the chips. I don't know what it is about them because they are so thin that it doesn't really feel like you are eating anything. I probably like them because they are drenched in so much fat that it's a real treat. I like the fact that my hubby can supersize his meal every now and again so I can eat some of his chips without him complaining that I'm stealing his tea/lunch.
Over all I don't think I will get into the habit of taking my kids to this place considering the food consists of empty calories and grease. Maybe we will go as a one off treat every now and again but for the cost I think we could just as well pop in to a cheap eatery which would give us more variety and much healthier options.
Summary: Not a place Id choose to eat very often.

- 26/03/09 I agree, I'd rather have a sandwich. Ronald McDonald is scary, too. Good, balanced review! |
