Advantages: struggling here
Disadvantages: unhealthy
When it comes to fast food, McDonalds sure does put speed into their work. The world's largest chain of fast food restaurants, they are all over the globe, and there are five in my city!
I have to say that I, like many teens, practically lived in McDonalds when I was about 17. The whole thing appealed to me on many levels, all of which now turn me off completely!
First off, the food 'tastes' great (and I use that term loosely). The sugar and caffeine in their products give you a huge rush when you eat it. Nutritional value aside, it just feels so good to eat a Big Mac and fries whilst gulping down a milkshake. It's sensory overload, as you wolf it all down, and only after (when the rush has gone) do you discover you're hungry and you have a headache.
Servings-wise, I find McDonalds the worst of all fast food chains - small burgers, average fries, and a huge drink meant to fill you up is not enough for me thankyou very much.
Nutritionally, it's just ridiculous. I think I read somewhere that one big mac meal has the complete calorie content that a man is supposed to eat in a day. Food can't get much more unhealthy, and those of you who have seen 'Supersize Me', will know the effects this can have on you in the long-run.
Price-wise, it's not that bad. For around £3.50 you can get a meal, which is a bit more than a sandwich from Boots, but less than pretty much any other 'eat out' alternatives.
All in all, McDonalds is so unhealthy, and so un-filling, that the price doesn't matter. For a healthier, tastier alternative, try Subway.
If you liked it, watch 'Supersize Me', and discover first hand the awful effects of eating this rubbish!
Summary: don't do it!

- 04/04/09 Not to mention the carrot sticks that are dipped in a solution of hydrogen peroxide to keep them crisp before being bagged up. |
