Advantages: YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING
Disadvantages: UNHEALTHY, GREACY, FATTY, CARDBOARD FOOD
McDonald's restaurants are like marmite the majority of people either love them or hate them. McDonalds can be found in 119 countries and territories, it is the world's largest chain of fast food restaurants serving on average two million customers per day so one would think that they must have something special to offer in order to keep the customers coming in. Over the years McDonalds had been involved in a number of lawsuits and the subject of many protests and negative media campaigns. So why does our nation love it so much?
The first think I thought of when I asked myself this question was that McDonald's restaurants throughout the world all sell roughly the same products so where ever you are when you walk into a McDonald's and place an order you know exactly what you are getting. You know that your food will arrive with you quickly and the main point is its convenience (You never seem to be far from a McDonald's and your food can be taken away if you don't have time or don't want to eat inside the drive thru element accentuates this)
There are two types of menu on offer at McDonald's restaurants a breakfast menu served until 10.00 which comprises of sausage and egg McMuffins, Bacon and egg McMuffins, double sausage and egg McMuffins, big breakfast, coffee (black, white, latté or cappuccino),a cup of pg tips tea. orange juice, oat so simple porridge, bacon roll, toasted bagel, sausage egg and cheese bagel, bacon, egg and cheese bagel, fruit bag, and low fat blueberry muffin McDonalds say that all meat used in these breakfast meals are made from prime cuts of British pork, Uk sourced free range eggs to lion quality standard and tasty cheese slices. Cant comment on how these taste as a McDonald's breakfast is the last thing I want at that time of the morning
Then after 10.00 they switch to the main menu which comprises of a variety of different meals including 100% beef burgers in an array of different burger meals, (incl. cheese burgers, double cheese burgers, big macs, McDouble just to name a few) chicken burgers, chicken nuggets, chicken selects, fish o fillets salads, deli sandwiches, big tasty (not always on the menu) but its my fav when it is, veggie burgers, fries, sundaes, mc flurries, Fruit bags, Milkshakes, carbonated fizzy drinks. Bottled water, coffee, orange juice, and fruit just to name a few. I have tried a number of things on the menu and have often enjoyed the chicken and burgers but am unable to comment on the fish, I always have a milkshake if we go to McDonalds and can confirm that the chocolate is my firm favourite.
I have tried all flavours of the milkshakes on offer and in my opinion
The strawberry flavoured milkshake, well the first thing that I noticed is that you can certainly smell the strawberry flavour, it is a very nice smell and really does get your taste buds going, so the taste- it is very sweet in taste it has a very distinctive strawberry taste like you would ex[pect from this type of drink and really tastes like it smells I would recommend this flavour as it is very refreshing but for me it tends to get very sickly towards the end,
The chocolate flavour is a subtle chocolate taste, like all milkshakes from McDonalds it is thick in texture and very creamy, the subtle taste makes it very moorish without being too sickly but has enough taste to satisfy your chocolate craving I would 100% recommend this flavour,
The Banana flavour is not available at all McDonalds restaurants not sure the reason for this but not a big loss. It is very strong in flavour the smell of bananas doesn't hit you like the strawberry but does have quite a strong aroma the taste for me gets very sickly after the first few mouthfuls as it is very overpowering. I can confirm that I will not be having this flavour again.
The vanilla, there is no distinct smell to this flavour, the taste is quite bland as well but refreshing at the same time, There isn't really much you can say about it but I did enjoy it.
McDonalds also have what is known as a pound saver menu which when advertised makes it sound like you can eat quite cheaply when going to McDonalds. I wouldn't consider McDonalds to be too expensive compared to a roadside burger van and other similar types of fast food restaurants but compared to other restaurant/bar meals that are on offer I would say that McDonalds can work out extremely expensive. At McDonald's you get a choice of burger or chicken, a few dries, and a carbonated drink for a couple of pounds where as at a carvery house near us you can get a meal comprising of a choice of three meats (beef, lamb and gammon on offer at the minute) with a Yorkshire pudding and 2x stuffing balls, and then as many new potatoes, boiled potatoes, and vegetables (choice of 8 at the minute) covered in thick gravy and a choice of sauces all for £3.50 for adults and £3.00 for a child I know which I would prefer for my family and I - so in that respect I would note rat McDonald's at all.
There are many adverts and promotions carried out by McDonald's which are very much aimed at influential children, Even if adults Themselves do not like McDonald's they may go on occasion as a treat for their child/ children, I know my little boy loves McDonald's (they joys of grandparents introducing him young) and even at the age of 2 he is well aware of what the golden arches (big yellow m outside all McDonald's) represents and has done for a long time, They stand out for miles and can be seen easily from any road that would pass by the restaurant which is a very clever ploy by McDonalds, I didn't realise how much of a great advertisement the golden arches were until I had my little one, And now we cant drive anywhere without him spotting it from his little car seat and asking for one over and over again, I don't always give in but on occasion I do like to give in as a little treat.
As I said before I do treat the little one and I do really enjoy the odd one myself every now and again but do on occasion find myself being served soggy burger buns dripping with fat, soggy limp chips and watered down coke really turns your stomach and even though the good ones do outweigh the bad this is something that I really cant understand, if I was to receive 1 bad meal from a restaurant I probably wouldn't go back, if I did return and a second meal was not up to standard this would be enough to ensure that I would not be going back again where as with McDonalds I have heard people moan about a number of bad meals but most go back time and time again to despite this, so do why so we accept less from fast food outlets than we do from other restaurants or are we just a nation of fast food junkies? Still puzzles me today and I am one of the guilty ones.
Summary: IT TASTES GOOD OCASIONALLY
