McDonalds is a worldwide fast food chain, well renowned for its golden arches. It is also known for its characters Ronald McDonald and friends.

+++LOCATION+++
McDonalds is a Transnational Corporation and is situated almost all over the world. Whilst most of its values, menu and regulations are the same, there are some slight differences between countries which will be discussed later.

Within each country, especially large cities such as London or New York, several McDonalds chains may be found in the same area, perhaps even on the same street.

These stores are extremely easy to recgonise, not only by the big yellow "M", but also by the red background and the large white text.

I have never failed to find a McDonalds when in need, and all signs are very easy to locate and storefronts are large and accessible.

+++ATMOSPHERE+++
Most restaurants are large and has comfortable seats. In MEDCS (more economically developed countries), McDonalds has taken a new approach and made it more like a Cafe, removing the childlike atmosphere it is commonly associated with.

Personally i like the new layout, with cushioned seats, more high class and upper end. No longer are the days of plastic seats, but it is a much better feel to it. It is also much more comfortable, and you can sit there for longer periods of time, and feels like a more discussional place for meetings etc.

+++FOOD+++
As a fast food chain, it must deliver tasty food at a speedy time, and it does both quite well, with some exceptions. Having been a regular McDonalds user at many different stores, generally the food is quick to serve, and there is no more than 5 minutes waiting time after ordering.

The taste of the food is also addictive, although somewhat too salty and requires a drink. It serves a range of foods, most comonly hamburgers, fries, fizzy drinks and in a range of different meal combinations, with size (Small, Medium, Large) etc. In some countries extra large and even super size is available.

Also in several countries there are additions to the menu. For example, in Hong Kong, there are Happy Meal breakfasts, macaroni and pasta, and corn; and in Summer, limited edition slushies and cooling drinks and desserts.

+++PRICE+++
Price will vary per country but it is relatively cheap. In Malyasia the prices are really cheap compared to UK. For a happy meal it might cost around 1 pound whereas in UK it costs 2.

+++STAFF+++
Most staff are qualified and friendly, but some are not. They are sometimes unwilling to give sauce or serve you cordially. Also cleaning is carried out regularly.

+++OVERALL+++
Overall, McDonalds does its job as a fast food chain. It delivers its food speedily at an acceptible price. However, too much controversy surrounds it regarding health, staff education diplomas, Supersize Me and so on. The food is not exceptionally tasty and even sometimes you can feel the adverse effects straight after. Personally I do not eat this often, and only choose to eat less salty products.

I would only recommend it to those with extreme busy lifestyles who need something to eat quickly. On a lighter note, the Hot Pancake breakfast and the hash browns are delicious!!

In Hong Kong, there is also a 24 hour home delivery service which I think is a good idea and other fast food chains should adopt!

Summary: only eat occasionally!!!
