Advantages: Good for taking the family for a cheap lunch
Disadvantages: not much choice if you dont eat meat
Our family have used Mc Donalds for years and The kids and other half love the food there. I used to like it myself but after being seriously ill for 5 months with fod poisoning a few years back (not from Mc Donalds I might add( I have not eaten meat but still eat fish.
The problem with McDonalds is there isnt much else to choose from if you take away the meat dishes offered. I cant eat peppers of any kind as I am allergic to them so most veggie burgers are out of the window. The only main meal I would eat is their fish burger and to be quite honest I dont think it tastes that much of fish and the bun on the fish burger is always one of those soft shiny ones that dont look real and taste funny. I wish they would use the normal buns. By the time they put the extras in it makes the whole thing a big gluey mess, plus you always have to wait for them to cook it separately so everyone else is tucking in and I am still sitting there waiting.
It has got to the point now that if we go in Mc D's I just have a portion of chips and a drink, usually hot chocolate as I dont drink tea or coffee or fizzy drinks (except tonic water which they dont sell lol), but sometimes if I am feeling really hungry and its not too cold out I will get a milkshake as they seem to fill me up more than the hot chocolate.
My family always find something nice that they enjoy and I am happy for the grandchildren to eat it as its usually only a treat and they dont go all the time. They like getting the toy in the Happy Meal box. My daughter is 14 and usually asks for something different nowadays instead of the happy meal although to be quite honest the amount you get in the box is just about right for her as I find she leaves half the chips if she has a full meal. She doesnt always get chips though as she likes the fruit bags.
We have a few Mc Donalds near us, the nearest being the one in Gillingham High St which is really small.
It has a few seats down stairs which are not that comfortable if like me your not a teenager and can sit on a stool. There are only 3 normal tables with chairs with backs on so you have to be lucky to get one.
Upstairs there is also the backless stool seating arrangements this time they are high up stalls so even worse for me to sit on. There are a few tables and chairs around though so as long as the upstairs is open you can usually find a seat.
The toilets are upstairs and I must say they are usually kept clean and fresh which is pleasant. Downstairs they have a large toilet for disabled access.
The queues in this Mc Donalds are not usually that heavy, unless you go right in the middle of lunch time but we usually try to go either about 11 ish or after the lunch rush.
The other Mc Donalds near to us is a drive in one near Twydall. It is off a round about on a main road but it doesnt get that busy really, there are often queues for the drive in normal busy times but they are quite quick at serving.
The inside is much better laid out than our local one with more tables and chairs to sit on so I much prefer coming to this one. Just the obstacle of needing a car to get there and me not driving.
Anyway, this is my review of how I see Mc Donalds.
Summary: will continue taking the family but wish they would do more options for non meat eaters
