Advantages: snack food
Disadvantages: junk food, unhealthy, cost etc
I have stopped going to McDonald’s since I was in the last years at school. People who used to work there, used to tell us of the things that went on in their kitchen and that was enough to keep you away. I think McDonald’s is an excellent fast food chain, get you milk shakes, fries and burger and off you go. However……..it’s so unhealthy and the variety for vegetarians is poor. But my daughter keeps on saying ‘Mum will you take me to McDonalds’, I wouldn’t mind but since I detest the food, and the stories I have heard I wouldn’t be much company. The toys they give away with the meals, or a great attraction to kids……and my daughter. I always look at America for example, look at what fast food chain have done to the kids over there, and look at the rates of obesity amongst adults, it’s appalling. The prices are McDonalds are expensive for such an unhealthy meal, they don’t even offer anything healthy. You may think I am obsessed with healthiness, but I am not it’s because my sister works near a McDonalds and more time than not the staff pop in at dinner times. Once is ok but three or four times a week isn’t good. The variety isn’t there, so it’s the same fatty foods. McDonalds is well advertised and there seems to be one at the top of every high street. I want to take m daughter but don’t know what to do………kids should enjoy themselves and I am sure she’ll like to go but I am worried that she will grow into a obese child. Please someone let me know what I should do?

- 19/02/01 I worked in McDonald's as a student and unfortunately found all the stories you briefly mentioned to be true... at least concerning the McDonald's I worked in. |

- 12/02/01 I am sure your daughter has a well balanced diet at home, so the odd treat for birthdays or doing well at scholl will be ok. I agree with caroline, KFC is much nicer. |

- 11/02/01 When I was growing up, my parents only allowed us McDonalds etc. as a treat. Mainly the cost was an issue (I'm one of four!) but it was better because we appreciated it more...and it seemed to taste better then. When I grew up, as all young teenagers do, I went McDonalds mad!! I must admit now its a concious choice to eat it or not as I know myself whats wrong with it, I prefer a Subway sandwich!!! Have you tried them? Although I'm not sure where they are around the country!! |
