Advantages: quick and cheap
Disadvantages: quick and cheap
A typical McDonalds experience: 1) Walk into local McDonalds just down the road. Find it sandwiched between Burger King, Chicken Prince and KFC and with a handy sign on the wall saying 'only five minutes walk up the High Street for your next McDonalds! (although for regular customers its more like fifteen minutes)' 2) Put sunglasses on to shield eyes from bright orange and yellow walls. Take sunglasses off as you trip over small child crying because you've just tripped over him and also because one of those useless little toys has broken after four minutes. 3) Come across two differing workers asking for your order. One is new to the job, just two days therefore really keen, smiling and over friendly. Other is now dissolusioned with life, bored and tired of it all, having worked there for longer, four days. The latter reels off the questions while not really listening, the answers are always the same. Yes of course I want ketchup, no not bloody un-fizzy fanta are you trying to poison me? 4) As you get your meal, you realise that the burger looks tiny compared to the juicy hunky one in the photo. Worse still you remember the advert on tv of fresh, bouncy lettace and hunger inducing beef. Your meal looks rather sorry for itself and drab. 5) Sitting down, find that its one of those really annoying seats that doesn't move, but swivels round 90 degrees. Due to long legs you manage with difficulty to settle then, then forget the straw for your coke. 6) Dump everything in a bin, inlcluding useless plastic thing trying to resemble someone or something from the latest Hollywood blockbuster, and leave vowing to return in the May Day riots armed with chunk of wood and suitable boots. Well thats the sort of thing that I feel whenever I enter a McDonalds. All the same, cheap, cheap and cheap. As well rounded arguments usually do better on dooyoo, I'll now attempt to defend the big M.
1) It is not pretentious or overly arrogant like Burger King. (who says your the king od burgers anyway?) 2) Food is cheap, cue 'amount of work a plumber has to do to afford...' adverts 3) Others are MUCH worse, eg Wimpy I seem to remember etc 4) Erm... Basically all fast food junk places are pretty bad and definatly not to be called 'restaurants'. McDonalds is always the first one of everyones list as it is the most well known and probably considered the grandfather of such places. Its fine for a quick lunch when time and money are in short supply, but just so hideously cheap and tacky that they are nauseating. And that bloody clown... So here are some tips for fast food chains in the future: 1) Burger Queen: the fast food chain for gays! 2) McDonalds Farm: choose your very own cow to be put in your burger, and pick the chicken to make your McChicken Sandwich. 3) New happy meal: complete with one of five violent objects to smash the place up afterwards in the name of anarchy. 4) Have top celebrity comedians working there: livens up the ordering process 5) Build chains in peoples houses: sign on bedroom 'nearest McDonalds just down the stairs!' 6) If all else fails, get Jamie Oliver to do your ads knowing secretly that hes never even been inside your inlet.

- 01/11/01 I'll tell you why Mc Donald's is so popular - it's not because of how cheap it is (it's not anyway), it's because of the corporation's brainwashing and thought-control. Ronald McDonald is the real Big Brother (the one in the book, not the TV show).
<start s screaming as a team of soldiers with the McDonald's logo sewn into their uniform burst into my room through the window and start kicking the shit out of me> |

- 27/10/01 Nice op. Its interesting, I've never been to a Wimpy in the UK (that I can remember) but I went to ones in Zimbabwe and they were MUCH better than the Macdonalds. Gwen |

- 27/10/01 Every time I have to be dragged into this place, I somehow sympathise with the rioters who smashed up McDonalds. They're really doing the stomachs of the world a favour...
fine op by the way :-) |
