I believe that nearly everyone on the planet has heard of McDonalds. This has to be one of the most internationalised companies in the world. From China to Chile nearly every country will have a McDonalds and we know in the UK there are thousands of them in nearly every town.
It all began when two American brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a small drive in in 1937. They had advanced machinery for the time which they bought from a ray Kroc. Ray was impressed with the McDonalds business and in 1955 he opened his first restaurant and became the brothers first franchisee. By 1958 they could boast ?more than 100 million hamburgers served? and the following year the 100th McDonalds restaurant was opened. In 1963 they sold their billionth hamburger and their income that year exceed a million dollars Ronald McDonald was also created. The drive thru concept originated in 1975. The first united kingdom restaurant opened in 1974 . Today there are over 700 restaurants in the UK. Worldwide there are some 18,500.
Most of the older McDonalds are located in older buildings. One I visit quite a lot is in Grimsby centre and although the decoration is similar to that of other McDonalds the toilets are upstairs which could pose a problem for the disabled. Most modern McDonald stores look as if they came ?flat packed? they are very similar and usually hexagonal in shape. They all have round or square tables screwed to the floor and some have corner booths. They are tastefully decorated and have lots of windows.
Being a female and I don?t know about the rest of you but the quality of the toilets are important to me. They are quite simple no fancy decorations but what do you expect from a fast food restaurant. But I?ve always liked the washing facilities there and have not come across the same sort anywhere else. I?m talking about the silver ones imbedded into the wall and you press the butt
ons for water one for soap and one for the hand dryer. They are always spotlessly clean in all of the McDonalds I?ve been into which is quite a lot.
This is mouth-wateringly delicious. That is if you?re into Fast Food and I?m going by the majority of the population so I suspect you are. There are the original foods like
Big Mac: Two beef burgers in a delicious sauce, lettuce onions , pickles cheese and sesame seed bun
Quarter pounder: Same as above but with one burger
McChicken sandwich: Chicken breast meat in a light batter in a sesame seed bun with mayo sauce
Fillet o fish: Cod fillet in breadcrumb coating with sauce
Vegetable Deluxe: A lightly spiced mixture of vegetables in breadcrumb coating served with sauce and lettuce.
Then there?s obviously the fries which are nice but sometimes can be a little salty
For kids there are always the happy meals. Which you get free toys in with which is useful if you have younger children. They have changed in now as well so it?s more healthier. Instead of coke or milkshake they can have Robinson?s fruit drink with no added sugar or fresh organic milk. They also ad fruity packs which contain pieces of fruit in a sealed bag.
There is also a separate breakfast menu involving pancakes bacon rolls sausage and egg mcmuffin and lots more perfect for you early risers out there
The deserts are delicious too especially the mcflurrys. These are light fluffy ice cream with bits of smarties dairy milk crunchies or whatever?s on offer for example at Easter you can get crème egg mcflurrys which are very sickly and you used to be able to get jammy dodger mcflurrys but that has changed now. There?s also the chocolate covered donuts which are still a popular choice.
~~~Quality of food~~~
McDonalds use 100% beef in their burgers and they only buy it from farms accredited by the nationally recognised Farm Assurance scheme. The entire supply chain is
surveyed to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare. They only use cutting from flank or forequarter
They only use chicken from suppliers who meet strict animal welfare regulations. All meat is carefully De-boned. All meat is from the breast or thigh.
Their fillet o fish contains 100% cod, which has been caught in the waters of the north Atlantic. The best efforts are made to remove all the bones from the fish
Overall Mcdonalds is a good place to go for a good meal as the prices are cheap. Although it is best not to go too often as the calories in the products are very very high for example a big Mac medium fries and a medium coke will give you 958 calories ouch !
