Advantages: Yummy and filling 3-course food.
Disadvantages: Closed during weekends
Hi. I have just been back from a farewell lunch at this nice well-hidden Italian restaurant called Mille Pini at 33, Boswell Street. This is somewhere between Holborn and Russell Square tube stations (and I forgot to ask them for their telephone number, sorry). They offer great Italian food at £6 for a 3-course lunch Mon-Fri between 12 - 3pm and you can choose from the list below. 1. Starter i) Pate Maison - come with 2 pieces of toasted bread ii) Minestrone Soup - with herbs iii) Grilled Sardines - 3 medium sardines with lemon iv) Tricolore Salad (Avocado, Mozarella & Tomatoe 2. Main Course i) Trout Mille Pini + Potatoes & Vegetables ii) Veal Milanes + Potatoes & Vegetables iii) Tagliatelle Cream Mushrooms (Pasta) iv) Baby Chicken + Potatoes & Vegetables v) Chicken Cacciatora + Potatoes & Vegetables (Casserole) vi)Pizza Quattro Stagioni (4 Seasons Vegetable & Meat) vii) Pizza Vegetariana 3. Dessert Mixed Ice Cream Cream Caramel Fruit Salad Note : The pizzas come not in a piece, but as a whole large (thin) pizza, more than enough to satisfy even the hungriest of you. Well, what can I say about Italian food except a big yummy. The restaurant setting is cosy and I personally feel that the atmosphere downstairs at the basement is much better. They even have a karaoke set there for those of you who loves to sing (generally advisable when you have the whole basement to yourself). Unfortunately, they are closed during weekends as they generally cater for those working nearby.

bigbird - 01/02/01 What a surprise to find a review on Mille Pini! I love this restaurant, it is great food and great value. The man who runs it is called Ovidio and is Bulgarian I think. I used to visit the estate next door regularly and as a result went to Mille Pini a load . . . sometimes in the evenings he does Bulgarian food evenings with accompanying music, usuall knowcked out by one of the family! |
