Miss Cranstons tearoom is a lovely little place where despite my age, friends and I quite often come to cure our hangovers or rest weary shopping feet with a nice cup of tea and indulge in some cakes. Miss Cranston has been running tearooms since 1886 (clearly she is no longer with us) and now Bradford the Bakers have taken over the place and registered her name as a trademark (in fact she was the person behind The Willow Tearooms which are still open). If you fancy visiting a very old fashioned tea room then find your way to Miss Cranston’s Tea Rooms on Gordon Street in Glasgow. This is how you really expect a tea room should be. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, neatly ironed white table cloths, glass topped tables, waitresses in black and white outfits; the whole place could be straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. Kate Cranston, a Glasweigan woman is said to have opened the world's first tearoom in 1875. The pace in this tea room is very relaxed, pleasant and quiet but certainly not somewhere to go to if you are in a rush.
