Daytimes are fine but don't bother at night!

Miss Millies is a change of takeaways all over the place. With living in Weston Super a Miss Millies is just up the road from me along with a KFC not far from it. I have always loved KFC but one day looking in the window of this place I soon realised that this place was the same sort of idea as KFC but seemed to be alot cheaper!

      The Place:

      27 Locking Road
      Weston-super-Mare
      BS23 3BY
      Telephone:
      01934 626006

      The Unit:

Well lit, clean and bright and my local Miss Millies does have a few tables in to eat your food at if you want to. Its a small takeaway really though. The staff are polite and clean looking and behind the counter are huge lit up boards telling us what there is available to order of course.

My local Miss Millies dues run a delivery service on orders over a tenner however I usually nip down and grab my food and order it whilst I am there as I don't ever find the wait too long.

      Opening And Delivery Times:

      Monday 11:00am - 1:00am

      The Food Available:

Miss Millies is really a fried chicken joint and nothing more than that really. You can pick from Chicken Meals, Chicken In Buns, Megabites, Warm Chicken Tortillas, Bigger Eats, Sharing, Children's Meals, Fillet Strips, Boneless, Family Meals, Bigger Eats and from a small amount of Sides And Desserts.

In the three years I have lived in Weston Super Mare I have a few things from here. Some have been good which have been got earlier on in the day but like a lot of places at night in Weston Super Mare when they think you are drunk or whatever the food is never that great and cold and soggy so I stopped ordering late night from here a long time ago to be honest.

I have had 3 pieces of chicken & chips (£4.75), warm chicken tortilla (£3.40), 15 pieces & 5 regular chips for £19.60)which is under sharing meals and a Monster Meal which is 4 pieces of chicken portions, large chips and a 500ml bottle of pop to which I had Coke which cost me £6.75. There is plenty to choose from on the menu providing you like chicken which is coated and I do think you get rather alot of food for your money and my only issue with this place is that at night the food is just slung at you really with no care or attention given to it and I do hate a soggy coated chicken!

There is one Vegetarian meal on the menu which is jacket Potato with cheese, regular corn on the cob, coleslaw & beans which costs £3.60. I'm not a vegetarian but how flipping boring is that for a choice! The kids meals range in price £2.85 - £3.40 and there are only 3 options to choose from, all are chicken based, once again and come with chips and small drink.

There are plenty of options though for meals for one from chicken in buns to family and sharing meals and you can buy extras such as chips which are £1.55, a can of pop for 95p and a hot apple pie for £1.05 thought there isn't alot to choose from, from the side dishes or desserts just a bit of ice cream (Ben Jerrys) if you don't fancy apple pie.

      My Opinion:

Well the food from here isn't outrageously expensive, its quickly served and always cooked through though sometimes can be a bit cool. My only quibble with the place, is as I have already mentioned I'm not keen on the after 10pm service I have received. I don't like food I have paid good money for thrown in a cardboard box cold so do stick to grabbing a chicken burger with salad and covered in mayo now daytimes only, its less greasy than a night!

Miss Millies or KFC......? A clear winner here....KFC! Sorry Miss Millies your just not consistent enough for my liking so can't really recommend you!

        Service was a joke!!

Firstly I'll start on the timing of the delivery which was over an hour and half late, I had to chase this up with them as they didn't have the decency to even call to say it would be late! Got through to a guy who had no knowledge of my order even when i confirmed my order number, the guy was rude and kept me waiting on the phone for a further 20 mins still denying the fact I placed an order through them and then fobbed me off with the driver has disappeared with all the orders, whatever this meant?! He then offered to take my name and number to give me a call back and when I asked when this would be he said "might be tonight"??? Well I bloody hope it is as I've paid via debit card and want my food preferably tonight!! Anyway in the end I called just eat helpline and thankfully they sorted this out for me (with no thanks from Miss MIllies or more importantly no apology!) when the food was eventually delivered, the drive was rude and seemed to be high on something by the way he was acting! Overall my food was cold, soggy and wet from the rain, it tasted very appalling and most of it ended up in the bin, apart from the can of coke!! PLEASE DO NOT EAT FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU'RE EXPECTING NICE FOOD, ONTIME SERVICE OR PLEASANT DELIVERY DRIVERS/KITCHEN WORKERS! A waste of £16 that i will never get back, however it's there lost on my service as I will NOT be ordering there again and will make this known to everyone! Disgraceful!!

One of the better southern fried chicken outlets

Miss Millie's is a takeaway food outlet in the same style as KFC, as the two both serve the same type of food, southern fried chicken and other chicken related products.

The main office and branch of Miss Milles is located in Bristol, where the bulk of the business takes place. Surprisingly the company was set up by the former head of KFC in the United Kingdom, who took over the area of Bristol and South Wales. The reason the chain is called Miss Millie's is the company's founder had close links to the KFC founder, and the company was named after one of Colonel Sander's daughters (Sourced Wikipedia).

Miss Millie's is one of the older food outlets, as it has been running for around twenty years as Miss Millie's but is perhaps not one of the most well known, as the franchise is mainly located on the south west of England and the South of Wales. The outlet specialises in take away food, these can range from large orders of chickens in a package deal to an individual order such as a chicken burger and chips. The main focus of the menu is southern fried chicken pieces, although other products are on offer such as side items like, coleslaw and beans.

In terms of the quality of the food, I would stated that it is reasonably good, and for some reason a large deal better than other competitors food, such as KFC. For some reason, although the stores both sell the same product, I prefer Mrs Millie's southern fried chicken, but I cannot put my finger in the reason why. Although one could be that there is more chicken on each piece than KFC.

In terms of the staff at the stores, they are all extremely pleasant. Which is a surprise for a food outlet store, as usually the staff that work in these stores usually cannot not be bothered and look at you as more as an annoyance.

The only problem that I have is the low number of stores where I live, as in Cardiff there are only two stores and in reality I need a car to reach the store, which is not ideal. As what you really want with a food outlet like Miss Millie's is for the store to be close to you, ideally in walking distance.

Overall I would recommend Miss Millie's over KFC, although they are closely related. As I have got the impression from the outlet, whenever I have purchased from the store, is that you get more for your money. Also there seems to be a better taste on the chicken that from KFC. Although one of the problems with stores like these is, it is not the healthiest of food that you can purchase; therefore I would not recommend that you eat this food every day.
