Advantages: Great staff
Disadvantages: Waiting for a table
Every time my boyfriend and I go out to eat, we always end up having to wait for a table. It doesn't seem to matter where we go and lunch at Nandos in Norwich was no exception. We chose to have lunch quite early as we knew that we were going for an all you can eat Chinese later on that evening so we got to Nandos at just before noon. The restaurant was packed. The whole seating area was looking pretty full as we walked in and there were already a bunch of people waiting to be seated before us. Still, the waitress told us that it would only be a 10 minute wait and she took our names, gave us some menus and showed us to a seat for while we waited.
The people waiting before us got tables really quickly which meant that we weren't even kept waiting for 10 minutes. Even though the restaurant was really busy, we were given a table for 4 people instead of only us 2 which was very clean and clear from any clutter or mess etc. As we had already had time to look over menus, we could go and order immediately. I had my usual of half a chicken with large fries while my boyfriend had half a chicken, spicy rice and fries. I don't really do spicy food so my chicken was ordered plain while his was mild. We both also had refillable cokes with our meals.
Although the restaurant was busy, there was still a happy and chatty atmosphere in the room. The noise level wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak but it was nice to hear others around us. It also didn't feel like our conversations were being listened in on so we still had our own privacy. The staff were chatting amongst themselves between taking out food or seating people and while this should have bothered me, it only helped to give the restaurant a really good feeling to it. It's always nice to see staff that really get on well in a job and this was very clear to me at this branch.
Something that I love about Nandos is the time it takes from ordering to your food being brought over. No matter which Nandos I have been to or when, I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my food, even when the place is packed. When our food was brought over to us, it was extremely hot, including the plates and looking delicious. I couldn't wait to dig in.
I only had time to have a couple of bites of my food when a waitress came over to see how our meals were. I don't really understand why this is done this quickly as I didn't really have time to decide or even to really taste my food. After only a couple of bites, I don't think it is possible to have anything particularly bad to say about a meal unless there is something terribly wrong with it. Luckily, our food was great although I have never had a bad experience (touch wood) at Nandos. Unfortunately though, I never managed to finish all of my meal as I was too full but my boyfriend polished his off completely.
The staff at this Norwich branch of Nandos was extremely good at their jobs. The restaurant was always clean and tidy, with no plates being left on tables after diners had finished and left but they were also all quite friendly and happy. While the food was as good as it always is, the staff here really made my visit much more enjoyable than normal.
