not so finger lickin chicken (Nandos)

I like to eat and i like to think i have experianced enough varieties of food to be able to spot the good and not so good. I accept that one persons tastes may differ from anothers, so il just think of the facts when i write my reveiw. I wondered what the Nandos hype was all about so i got myself down to the local restaurant. Looking at the menu there were many cuts of chicken- whole chicken, 1/2 chicken, 1/4 chicken, wings and burgers, not forgetting the classic bean burger for the veggies. Then you choose the way you want it, extra hot, hot, medium, or lemon and herb for the more sensitive pallate (which still appears to contain chili peppers). Help your self to sauce. again chili in each. (Note- what ever you choose, you get your chicken and put your own ketchup style sauce on. You dont have a choice of prepared dishes). The food arrived quickly, but then so it should as it was sizzling on a grill behind the bar. And my, what a tiny chicken it was too however it tasted ok. The chips were takeaway style (and a small potrion), the garlic bread tasted ok but appeared to be a toasted burger bun, the coleslaw was ok but a little watery and you have to help yourself to your drink. They did not have any hand wipes to get the chicken grease of my hands and there was grease all over the sauce bottles.

In brief this place does not offer value for money in my opinion. The menu offers many different cuts of chicken but very little variation of dish. There is obviously a distinct lack of imagination from the composer. There doesnt appear to be a chef, but there are many cooks. I wont be going there again. I was very dissapointed. oh, the staff were quite polite though, and if your a guy you will no doubt find the girls in the saucy bird t-shirts make the experiance a little better.

BTW the cost of our meal was £25. Thats for 3 drinks, half chicken, chicken burger, 2 portions of chips, garlic bread, colslaw and a corn cob. Thats the lot, no garnish or anything. This may sound ok to you but remember the protions are small and for a fast food style meal KFC offer far better flavours and value with one of their buckets.
