Advantages: Different spices for your chicken and lots of side orders.
Disadvantages: I can't think of any!
I came across Nando's a few yesr ago when one opened up in our town, me and some friends were in town and a man asked up if we knew where Nando's was. Thinking he was just asking for directions we told him where it was, only to be told 'congratulations! Here is a voucher for you to use!' The voucher got us a free meal there, and ever since I have been a Nando's addict.
So when you walk through the door you get greeted within a few seconds and are seated at a table (at non busy times you can choose a table.) Everytime I've been I'm always asked if I've been to Nando's before, if you haven't they then explain how to order from the menu, choose the spice you want on your chicken, and where the counter is to pay.
The menu isn't overly extensive, basically you can only a 1/4 chicken, a 1/2 chicken or a whole chicken, there are chicken pitta's and chicken fillet burgers and some chicken salads. However they also do a couple of veggie meals, and a veggie friend of mine loves them! You can usually get a sort of 'meal deal' with whatever you choose, where you can choose a regular side for x price, 2 regs for x price and so on.
The sides consist of coleslaw, corn on the cob, chips, spicy rice (my fave!) and a couple of other's I've forgotten. They also have these new sides which are a bit more expensive, and they do ratatouille, mash and another one I've forgotten!
A great things about Nando's is you can choose the spice of your chicken. You can have it plain, or you can go for the mild lemon & herb or the new lime & mango, then it goes up to medium, hot and very hot. They also have a wide range of sauces for you, from the standard ketchup, to Nando's garlic or tomato & herb, and some more spicer ones. They also do salad dressings.
When at the counter paying I recommend asking for a Nando's loyalty card. The loyalty card gets stamped on each visit, after 2 stamps the next time you visit you get a free 1/4 chicken, then 2 stamps later you get a free 1/2 chicken, then 3-4 stamps later you get a free whole chicken! The chicken tastes even better when it's free :)
After you've paid you'll be able to see them cooking the chicken, which state in the menu are Grade A fresh chickens. If you've gotten a soft drink you'll be handed a glass, and you can fill it up with as much coke as you want, and go back for more (handy if you love the spicy food!)
Everytime I've been to Nando's, even when they're rather busy, I always find the food is at your table within minutes. It's always hot, fresh and plentiful. I know some people will grubble at the fact you have to go to the counter to place your food order, but I think this helps with the food being brought to your table so quick, and you get seated very quickly too.
Not long after you've started tucking in you get the standard 'is everything alright with your food?' line and you menu's and table number are whisked away.
After you've finished eating, the plates aren't sat there too long before they're cleared away, although they're not jumping at you as soon as you've finished! You're not pestered to hurry up and leave either, you can let your food settle before you head out.
A lovely thing I always find at Nando's is the managers always say goodbye to you, even if they're busy. A nice touch.
Summary: Really yummy and lovely service.
