Advantages: Lovely food, lots of locations, reasonably priced

Disadvantages: restaurants can get busy, food might be too hot for some

I only discovered Nandos about a year ago and feel ashamed that I missed out for so long!

Nandos is a a chicken restaurant, plain and simple so if you like chicken then give it a try, if not then give it a try anyway!! They serve up a variety of chicken with a special taste which comes from piri piri chilli.

The main menu consists of either a quarter or half a chicken which is seasoned according to how hot you like it. For those with a sensitive palate you can go for the mild lemon and herb, then it goes up to medium, hot and extra hot. The extra hot I think would probably blow your head off. For most people and novices then the medium would proably surfice! The main chicken comes with 2 regular side dishes which you can choose from chips, rice, garlic bread, coleslaw etc. if there is a group of you then is also the option of one of the platter meals to share which offer better value for money. If not then a half chicken and drink is about £10. If you don't want to have a chicken portion they do some burgers, either a chicken burger or steak burger. Again these come with sides and you can choose the 'heat' of the burger. Be warned though that the burgers seem invariably hotter than the chicken portions probably because the sauce marinates more, so a 'hot' burger will be more like 'extra hot'. Drinks are extra but if you have coke, fanta or sprite then it is a bottomless glass so fill up as much as you like. There are several kids meals options which are lower on the spice. There are also several desserts available including yogurts and icecream.

There are now a number of Nandos restaurants around the country so it should not be too hard to find one near you. I often visit the Birmingham Bullring one. They do get very busy so you might have to wait a while. Also for those who really like Nandos many local supermarkets now stock bottles of the marinade so you can make your own at home....it dosn't taste quite the same though!

Summary: Great spicy chicken, family restaurant
