Advantages: Good food, good service, good price

Disadvantages: During busy times can be full

Being originally from South Africa, I have known Nando's all my life. Too my delightful surprise when I first arrived in the UK more than a decade ago, I was so glad to see a very familiar face.

In South Africa Nando's was first established in 1987 by a gentleman of Portuguese descent, and now, just 21 years later, it has chains in more than 31 countries. It first arrived in the UK in 1992, and now have more than 190 branches, with 52 branches in London alone.

Nando's specialise in peri-peri marinated flame-grilled chicken. It comes in a variety of strengths, from extra hot for the very brave (or mad?) to lemon and herb for the "chickens"....lol, for the not so brave I mean! Occasionally they also have different flavours such as sweet mango. You can order a whole, half or quarter chicken, with various sides, such as rice, chips, or corn on the cob, or coleslaw. You can also order your chicken in a pitta if you feel like something different. Added to the menu are also a few starters, and dessert, if you are still hungry.

You order at the front desk when you enter, and pay immediately, and your order gets brought to your table. Dont forget to pick up sauces, serviettes, and cutlery yourself though. You can also buy an unlimited refill soft drink, or try one of their wines, bttled beers or one of my own favourites.... a delicious cider called Savannah.

What I like so much about Nando's is that the service is always good. The staff always approach you with a warm smile, and the food is brough to your table very quickly. The chicken is always extemely delicious, and you can be certain you will want to lick your fingers clean!

The only disadvantage I have found so ar, is that during busy periods it can be very full, and as you cant pre-book, you might have to settle for a long wait.

Nando's portray a fun image, and have become famous for their catchy slogans and witty advertising, but if you look past that, you will find what is really important....good food at an equally affordable price, and well worth a visit!

Summary: If you love a bit of chicken, this is the place to go!
