Advantages: variety cuisine

Disadvantages: expensive

I'm writing this review having just arrived back from tea at Nandos! I went with 5 friends from work to the restaurant in huddersfield town centre.

Nandos is known as a chicken restaurant but I love it there and I'm vegetarian.

Flavours and spice levels available
---------------------------------------- ----------
There are 4 different heat levels and 5 flavours of Peri Peri spice available for your meal.

*Mild : Lemon & Herb or Mango & Lime
*Medium
*Hot
*Extra Hot

Nandos chicken is marinated in the Peri peri sauces for 24 hours so the flavour is gorgeous and strong.

The Restaurant Itself
----------------------------------
*The restaurants decor is a traditional, portugese style.
*With warm terracotta walls and strange wooden ornaments and sculptures everywhere!!
*Its really warm and welcoming and has a great atmosphere.

The Menu
----------------------
**Appetisers:
There are a range of appetisers available such as mixed spicy olives (£2.80) and Red Pepper Dip with Pitta bread (£2.95).

**Main Courses:

CHICKEN: A huge choice of chicken dishes such as 1/4, 1/2 and whole chickens, chicken wings, chicken burgers, chicken wraps and chicken pittas.
These range in prices from £4.60 for a chicken breast burger to £10.85 for a whole chicken.

VEGETARIAN: Mushroom and cheese burgers or pittas, Vegi patties in pitta bread or burger buns, Bean burger or bean pitta.
These cost from £4.60 to £5.60.

SPECIALS: Chicken Liver and Bread roll, £4.95.
Beef Steak Roll, £6.85.

SALADS: A range of salads priced from £3.60 to £5.50.
These include a classic Caesar salad and a new mediterranean salad, as you would expect you can add chicken breast to any of these salads for a additional cost.

**All the meals above are priced without side orders, you can choose a meal deal with 1 or 2 side orders where you save a small amount on buying the main meal and side orders seperate.

SIDE ORDERS AVAILABLE:
Pick one or two to create your ideal combination:

Regular or Spicy Chips - £ 1.70
Large Chips - £ 3.35

Regular Spicy Rice - £ 1.70
Large Spicy Rice - £ 3.35

Regular Coleslaw - £ 1.70
Large Coleslaw - £ 3.35

Regular Corn on the Cob (one) - £ 1.70
Large Corn on the Cob (two) - £ 3.35

Regular Garlic Bread - £ 1.70
Large Garlic Bread - £ 3.35

The Corn on the cob are gorgeous and so is the coleslaw and the new spicy chips.
My friend had the spicy rice tonight too and she said it was really tasty and moreish.

SAUCES AVAILABLE:
There is usually a table in Nandos restaurants where you help yourselves to huge bottles of the peri peri sauces to go with your meal, there are loads available; the list below starts with the mildest (though they are all quite spicy!):

*Wild Herb Peri Peri
*Garlic Peri Peri
*Medium Peri Peri
*Hot Peri Peri
*Extra Hot Peri Peri

There are also a couple of Nandos salad dressing available now which can cool down a spicy meal!

**They also do a childrens menu for the under tens (Nandinos!)
The kids meals are grilled in Nandos Peri-Tamer which is a mild version of the Peri Peri of adults meals, you can also have them without any Peri peri.

*These are the choices on the kids menu:
Nandino Chicken Breast Fillet Burger - £ 3.95
3 Chicken Wings - £ 3.95
Chicken Breast Fillet Strips - £ 3.95
Nandino Veggie Burger - £ 3.95
Nandino Bean Burger - £ 3.95

*All of these meals include one side dish and a bottomless frozen yoghurt or an Ice lolly.

DRINKS:
You can get bottomless (free tops ups) drinks of Fanta, Coke, Diet Coke or Sprite for £1.90.
You fill these up yourself at the drinks machine.

They also offer coffee and tea for around £1.80 and fresh juice drinks for about £2.20.

You can get alcoholic drinks too ranging from portugese beers to ciders and wine.
These are not cheap but not ridiculously expensive, a bottle of beer or cider is around £3, the average really for any restaurant.

DESSERTS:
Theres a choice of 2 portugese pastries available for £1.25, they really are tasty too for this great price.

The bottomless frozen yoghurt is a favourite among my friends and costs £2.55 and is, like the soft drinks refillable for free.

They serve a range of different ice creams such as Rum and Raisin and Mango Sorbet for £2.55. These are really one of the most tasty ice creams and sorbets i've ever had!

The more traditional puddings include Lemon pudding, Chocolate mousse and Toffee cheesecake all available for a reasonable £3.25.

GREAT VALUE FOOD!
I had a Vegi pitta with 2 side orders: coleslaw and spicy chips and a bottomless fanta. This came to under £10, I think it was £9.60.
I think anywhere you can get a filling meal and a drink for under £10 is great these days!!

The Staff
------------------
The staff are all really friendly, I know the manager and he always makes an effort to speak to everybody in the restaurant!
If you've never been to Nandos, the second you walk in the staff ask if 'youve visited bfore' and if you say no they explain how it works, how to order etc.

***I would recommend Nandos to anyone who likes spicy food, chicken or not!
I think its a great retaurant for families, couples or groups of friends, Everyone really!*** I also write on other review site such as ciao and helphound. i found this site very easy to navigate.

Summary: my first choice
