Advantages: better than fast food, not too expensive, very good chicken and sauces/marinades

Disadvantages: service can be slow during busier times, not great desserts

Nando's is great and is one of my favourite places to go and eat. It is better than fast food places but doesn't cost as much as a meal in a proper restaurant. It is a restaurant famous for its Chicken dishes but also has quite nice options for vegetarians.

It originates from South Africa but has a portugese theme. The first restaurant was opened in South Africa where the founder lived but now the chain has restaurants all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, The Uk, USA and Canada amongst many other countries.

Marinades and sauces offered cater for the different tastes in terms of how spicy you want your food. These include lemon and herb, mango and lime, medium, hot or extra hot peri-peri marinades. There is quite a wide range of food available including appetisers, platters, wraps, pittas/burgers,salads and sides as well as options for kids known as 'Nandinos'.

I usually have a Chicken breast fillet burger and peri peri chips with a bottomless soft drink. This is the other thing about nandos where you pay a fixed price for a glass and you can have any amount of soft drink you like (coke,Diet coke,fanta,sprite). I have also had a platter before which is a chicken cooked either 1/4 ,half or whole with sides. These can also be shared. For the vegetarians there is a veggie burger and veggie pitta option as well as a bean burger and bean pitta. Extras include olives,spicy rice, coleslaw,corn on the cob and salads. There are desserts but I don't usually have them as I don't think they are that great-ice cream and yoghurt I believe.

Overall I think Nando's is a very good restaurant. For around £10 per person you can eat quite well there and the food in my opinion is very nice. The sauces and marinades are tasty and if you really want to go for extra spice you can or if you are less daring you can go for the lemon and herb option. When you order you have to go up when you are ready and order your food from the counter rather than a waiter/waitress coming to you. This is slightly advantageous in that you can choose to order in your own time but if it is busy you could be waiting in a queue.The service tends to be good but sometimes when busy and during the rush hour you may have to wait a while to be seated. This has happened a few times before. Also I believe they do takeaway orders as well now which is good if you don't want to come in and sit down for a meal.
