Advantages: Tasty chicken, Cheery Surroundings and Service,Tasty chicken, Family Friendly
Disadvantages: Not a great deal of variety
Nandos super spicy chicken! Queue up to be seated. Decide how much food (chicken) you can plough through. Decide how spicy you can handle it. Decide what sides (chips, coleslaw, spicy rice, salad) you want, place your order with the obligatory chirpy waitress or waiter. Pay the bill usually about £20-£25 for the whole family.
Sit and chat with your family and friends in "African" surroundings - big sturdy dark wooden tables, terra cotta pots, lush plants, cool painted walls, cheery afro beat/calypso music.
The food arrives fairly quickly everyone dives in. It really is everyman for himself. Fingers are allowed, just don't let anyone lick the plates.
Still got a bit of room? Try a bit of desert. Strange Portuguese cakes, cool ice cream bottomless glasses of soft drinks are all on offer.
They won't try to usher you out before you are ready to go. Nandos welcomes children. The service is generally good. When the service is not good, or there is a problem, let them know about it. They actually do put it right.
I had poor service at the Birmingham Bullring Nandos just after it had opened. My meal did not arrive until the rest of my party had all finished theirs even though it had all been ordered at the same time.
I was furious and could not get to speak to the manager it was a very busy night. I did what I always do - emailed their head office, wanting to let off steam, expecting nothing.
They replied by letter. They told me to go back, and ask for the manager of the restaurant, whose name they gave me. I was given a free meal and drinks. I offered to pay the diference between the value of the new meal and the one I had had previously (about a fiver) they wouldn't hear of it.
They really understood what customer service meant!
