Who needs Mcdonalds (Nandos)

Nandos is a restauarant that is primarily for Chicken lovers. However being a Veggie myself I thought that I would give a slightly different take on the restuarant than most of the other standard reviews that will state that they have great tasting chicken. Although I have never tasted the chicken, I am sure it is great, but I dont need a whole review to go on about this.

Their are hundreds of Nandos restaurants around the country and strangely enough for a restaurant that originates from Portugal, apparantly there is only one Nandos in Portugal, however dont take this as a fact as this is just something I heard.

The menu has quite a few items, and mainly about Chicken, however there are a few Veggie dishes. Primarily there is the Veggie Burger and the Veggie Pitta, which are essentially the same thing, except with the Pitta, it is the burger stuffing in Pitta Bread. When going for a meal you have the option of sides, and this can range from Rice to Chips to Garlic Bread.

The food tastes very good, although like with anything if you have it too often it loses its charm so I wouldnt recommend having Nandos too often. All their food tastes food and its worth asking for a little loyalty booklet. With this booklet after you have eaten three, six and nine times you get a free quarter chicken, or Veggie equivalant if needed. It is a little bit of a copy of what Subway used to their with their food stamps, but still a great addition.

I also have to mention that ordering is a little different to a normal restaurant. Instead of having a waiter(ress) coming to order your food, you have to go the till and tell them your till number and then pay on the spot for what you want to eat. They will give you a glass, if you order a drink, which you can use to fill up from the machine, and refill as much as you want, which is great. The food generally takes around 15-20 minutes to arrive, but it does vary depending on the time of the day and particular branch.

Overall Nandos is a quality restaurant, and I have never had a bad experience here. For Veggies it is always tough going to restaurants for primarily meat eaters and getting decent food, so I am glad to say that at Nandos it is very simple and they are always adding Veggie dishes, so keep tuned for updates.
