Nandos is a Portugese based restaurant serving mostly chicken dishes.
This review is of the one in Soho in Frith Street. I love this one as it is just around the corner from me and the staff there are excellent. I have eaten there a few times and also used their takeaway service.
When you arrive you are seated and then asked if you have been there before. If you havent they then explain that you can choose a quarter/half/whole chicken and then choose the strength of spice that you have applied to the outside. I usually go for lemon and herb as Im not a huge spice fan but they go from not very spicy to basically blow your socks off spice!
As well as having chicken you can also order a variety of side dishes. I once had a voucher for a starter combo which consisted of olives, hummous and breads to dip which is great to share if theres a group of you. Other tasty ones are spicy rice, obligatory chips (which can have spice added to them), corn on the cob and loads of others.
In Nandos there is no waiter service so once you have decided what you want you have to go back to the till to order, give your table number and then when your food is ready it is brought to you. If you all order at different times if you are in a big group then they try and get all the food ready at the same time.
The actual chicken itself is really tasty, much nicer than something like KFC as it is grilled on a huge range in the open kitchen. The smell in the restaurant is great and they always have some good music playing to add to the atmosphere.
The restaurant is very modern but comfortable to look at and you dont feel the need to dress up or anything to go there. It is very informal and the staff are all really chilled out but work quickly.
When you order from the takeaway service they check your order with you before you walk out the door with it to ensure you have everything you asked for.
Furthermore if you are a regular customer be sure to collect your stamps as you can save up for a whole free chicken! Its not an expensive restaurant and its worth it for a treat.
Summary: Great to collect the stamps
